LeAnn Rimes Fights Psoriasis with Healthy Lifestyle

leann-rimes

Singer LeAnn Rimes has remained silent for a long time regarding her fight with psoriasis. But the 26-year-old has broken her silence by speaking to Shape magazine about it and joining the Stop Hiding and Start Living Campaign.

Having suffered from the chronic skin disease since she was 2-years-old, the Grammy Award winner only began controlling it (instead of it controlling her) within the last 5 years. How? By finding the right dermatologist and changing her lifestyle.

“There are 7 million Americans living with psoriasis and a lot of them are not getting treatment because they think it’s just a rash,” she told Shape.

LeAnn Rimes on Celebrity Diet Pressures

The country music singing sensation LeAnn Rimes is on the July cover of Shape magazine along with Julianne Hough and Martina McBride. LeAnn didn’t have much to say when it comes to her own specific diet and/or exercise, instead her responses focused more on being a celebrity and the pressures that accompany stardom.  She did mention that she has to diet,
“…all the time. But there are days when you can’t stop yourself!”
When asked her opinion about the recent pressures that fellow country singer Jessica Simpson underwent when she put on a few pounds over the winter, LeAnn had plenty to say:
“I think it’s just sad for someone to be picked on like that for gaining a few pounds here or there. Women’s bodies come in all shapes and sizes. Look at the three of us [Julianne Hough and Martina McBride]: We have completely different bodies, which is a good thing. Wouldn’t it be bad if we all looked the same?”
She went on to explain that she too feels the celebrity pressures but she’s used to it, but she doesn’t like it when her family gets brought into it:
“I’ve been in the tabloids recently too, and it’s been really hard for me [they reported she was romantically linked to her married Northern Lights co-star, Eddie Cibrian]. I’ve been in the public eye since I was 14, so I have a tough skin. It’s fine dragging me through the mud, but don’t drag my loved ones through it. They’re my family, and it hurts them. All I’ll say is, I know what’s in my heart and what’s true.”
LeAnn has been in the limelight for years and it’s nice to see how after all of this time she is still so well-respected in the music industry even though the tabloids continue to do their dirty work.  She is a great role model for young women

Martina McBride: Diet and Exercise

Country music songstress Martina McBride is on the July cover of Shape magazine along with LeAnn Rimes and Julianne Hough.  Looking ever so beautiful, she told readers her secrets when it comes to  staying fit and strong.  Martina first described how she got into healthy eating when she first got pregnant 14 years ago:
“I became fascinated with nutrition when I got pregnant with Delaney [her 14-year-old daughter]. I love to read about healthy eating and preach to my husband, who doesn’t listen. Now I’m trying to teach it to my daughters. And it’s working, because they all love green vegetables—like broccoli—but funny enough, not other colorful ones, like carrots, squash, and beets. I’m always telling my girls, ‘As long as what’s on your plate is healthy, you should eat, eat, eat!’”
Martina is now 42 years old and over the years she has learned how to eat properly and exercise:
“When I turned 39 or 40, my body really started changing. I was always thin. I guess I have good genes, so I never worried too much about my weight. But after my third baby, I began storing fat in little places where I never used to [points under her arm]. I was like, ‘What is that?’ That’s when I started being a little more careful about my food intake and working out more seriously.

Julianne Hough on Dieting

Julianne Hough is on the July cover of Shape magazine along with LeAnn Rimes and Martina McBride. Inside the three country music celebrities gave their tips on diet and exercise.  Julianne was first asked about her typical diet.  She replied,
“I’m probably the worst person to talk to about that because I pretty much eat what I want. My trick is to stop as soon as I’m full.”
Julianne also wanted to make it clear to the public that she eats because she’s concerned about how girls base their own body image on what they see in TV and magazines.  She explained,
“But I want everyone to know—especially young girls—I eat. I am not starving myself. I’m concerned about young women and their self-esteem being based on what they see on TV or in magazines. It’s not about being beautiful on the outside, it’s about loving yourself and who you are.”
Julianne also decided to set the record straight when it comes to her diet because recently a tabloid reported something that was false:
“One magazine recently reported that I drink only orange juice for my carbs. I want to clear that up right now. If I did that, it would kill me. I don’t want anyone to read that and believe it.”
Good for Julianne!  She is a smart and beautiful young woman who speaks her mind.
