Beyonce’s Workout Tips

Dancing is one of the best ways to quickly burn calories.  Take Beyonce, for instance–she burns about 300 calories every half an hour while she is
performing on stage.  She even works out at the gym in addition to her dance practice.

“I’ll put on a song I really like and do [bicep curls with] five pound weights the whole song,” she says.

One Big Happy Family Weight Loss Reality Show

Americans can’t seem to get enough of reality shows that expose morbidly obese people. There’s Biggest Loser where we watch them go through painful workouts and challenges. Or for those who like DWTS, there’s Dance Your Ass Off, a show where contestants wear outfits that are way too small for their large frames and they dance their way to a healthy weight. Then there’s Ruby, one of the heaviest women in US history who gets her very own show as she tries to lose weight because if not she’s going to die.

Kirstie Alley: Weight Loss Reality Show

kirstie-alley-weight-loss-reality-show Yet another weight related reality show will enter TV land. (Sigh)  With shows like Biggest Loser, Dance Your Ass Off and The Price of Beauty, it’s no surprise that former Jenny Craig spokesperson Kirsty Alley will get her own show. The 59-year-old yo-yo dieter has signed on with A&E for a yet to be titled show of 10 half-hour episodes. You may recall in 2005 her short-lived Showtime series Fat Actress, but that was a scripted show. This new reality show will be a first for Alley. Robert Sharenow, the senior VP for nonfiction/alternative programming said,

“Her personal life has been playing out in the media for years, but this will be the first time she’ll be opening up her home to reveal her real life for the cameras.”

Over the past summer Kirsty did confess that she gained 83 pounds but she was ready to get back on track. Latest tabloid photos of her show no change in her size but maybe the show will motivate her.

Tony Award winner Marissa Jaret Winokur spent the summer trying to lose weight before the Dance Your Ass Off reunion.  However, the 36-year-old didn’t quite meet her goal.  After a summer of ups and downs she has lost 15 pounds instead of the original 25 pounds that she had set as a goal.  She told E!,

“I didn’t lose as much as I wanted to by the time of the Dance Your Ass Off reunion, but I was like, ‘Maybe I can take off an extra five pounds just by straightening my hair…’ I ended up losing 15. I have 10 more to go. Sometimes I feel like, ‘Wow, I should make a TV series out of this. This is real.’”

Ricky Gervais: Weight Loss

ricky-gervais-is-looking-trim
The British actor and comedian Ricky Gervais was traditionally the chubby guy in all of his roles. But these days as his fame is growing in Hollywood it appears he is catching on to the show biz lifestyle and learning to drop the pounds. This week while at the Toronto International Film Festival you can see in the above photo at the right that he has slimmed down considerably since April (the photo on the left). The 48-year-old was in Toronto to promote his current movie The Invention of Lying, which he co-wrote, directed and starred in. Last year he was quoted saying,

“I don’t think there’s enough stigma. I laugh about being fat but I should be ashamed.”

Tony award winner Marissa Jaret Winokur is on a mission to lose 25 pounds.  Over the summer we saw how she experienced the typical highs and lows when it comes to trying to lose weight, and even though she still hasn’t reached her goal, she’s trying her best.  This week at Ok Magazine they caught up with the star and asked how she’s coming along on the weight loss journey.  Marissa explained,

“I want to snack all the time. I like snacking. I like yummy food, and my husband eats whatever he wants, and he’s skinny, tall and handsome. He can eat whatever he wants. It’s hard because he’ll eat cookies, and I’m like [sarcastic] ‘great, let me enjoy this yummy salad.’ It’s no fun. It’s totally no fun.”
