NBC.com released a bonus scene from Week 9 of the latest season of The Biggest Loser, in which the contestants were taught how to grow their own organic garden. Fresh from visiting the one grown by one of the executive chefs in the White House, Sam Kass, the players were all inspired to work on their own garden. The remaining contestants wanted to create their own garden as something they could leave behind for the next season’s players.

Michelle Obama’s Chef Cooks Healthy For the First Family

Sam Kass is probably the most important chef in America right now. He’s the man who makes sure the first family get all their daily nutrients while helping Michelle Obama make important decisions to shape her school lunch nutrition program as well as looking after the White House kitchen garden.
But it’s not about specific dishes and courses for Sam. In a recent interview with the Chicago Sun-Times, the 29-year-old chef dedicates himself to a rounded food philosophy. As the White House’s assistant chef and food initiative coordinator he has a hand in influencing policy with the Department of Agriculture, but his primary objective is to make sure he safeguards the health of the family he cooks for. Michelle Obama Promotes Kids’ Fitness

This week the First Lady invited 100 local school children to the White House for a Healthy Kids Fair. During the event kids were taught exercise, healthy eating habits and watched food demonstrations on how to make healthy snacks. But Mrs. Obama stole the show when she hula-hooped 142 swivels before the hula-hoop hit the ground. She explained to the press that the event was to teach kids how to eat and exercise and she considered it a call to action because one out of three kids in the US are overweight or obese. She said,
“One of our goals was to focus on the importance of educating our kids about healthy eating,”

First Lady Michelle Obama is on the cover of the November issue of Prevention Magazine. As always, she looks fit and fabulous. In the interview she reveals a little more about her diet and exercise that has already been broadcasted the world over by various magazines and television shows, but it’s great to know that someone in such a well-respected position can be such a positive influence.

Michelle Obama’s Arm Workout

They mystery has finally been exposed. After months of people guessing how the First Lady gets those killer guns her personal trainer has finally revealed her workout in the October issue of Women’s Health Magazine. Her trainer, Cornell McClellan, started working with Obama in 1997 and says that she is truly committed to health and fitness. As for her workout McClellan says that after her intense carido workout and weight training she’ll do a superset for the arms including tricep pushdowns and hammer curls.

Serena Williams: On The Line

With 22 Grand Slam titles under her belt one would think that Serena Williams has it all. But when her older sister was murdered in 2003 her life understandably changed. Now, she has written a memoir titled On the Line where she opens up about life, body image and the love she has for her family. Here are some interesting words on body image and diet when she interviewed with People Magazine. When asked why she wrote the memoir she said,
“I wanted to explain how I see things. I wanted to talk about my body and my sisters, my career, what I’ve learned, what I’m still learning. I want women to know that it’s okay. You can be whatever size you are, and you can be beautiful both inside and out. We’re always told what’s beautiful and what’s not, and that’s not right.”

Madonna’s Arms

They may not be weapons of mass destruction but more and more female celebrities are showing off their guns and are proud of it. Michelle Obama was the first to be lauded as she has a tendency to wear tank and sleeveless dresses that show off her great triceps. Brooke Shields gave a tearful speech at Michael Jackson’s funeral and instead of getting credited for her speech, the media decided to praise her toned arms that she flashed while presenting on stage. Last but not least, we’ve got Madonna who has been under fire because of her sinewy arms that her personal trainer Tracy Anderson claims is a result of too much yoga.

The Ideal Celeb Body: UK Survey

The British have voted on which celebrities’ body parts would create what they deemed the perfect body. The survey, which was conducted across the United Kingdom sampling answers by men and women, was carried out by weight loss company Proactol and polled pretty surprising results.
Unfortunately the original results could not be found on the Proactol website and The Sun newspaper is the only media that printed it, so the credibility of the survey is questionable. But the results do make for entertaining reading…

Marisa Tomei Hula-Hoops

Marisa Tomei loves to hula hoop. The Oscar-nominated actress, who showed off her hooping moves on the Ellen DeGeneres show earlier this year (see video below), became addicted to the hooping workouts when she had to get in shape for the movie The Wrestler. Marisa played a stripper and although she wasn’t in too bad shape at the time, the exercise routines helped her move her body in new, sexy ways.

Ruby Gettinger: Weight Loss

Ruby Gettinger is back this week for the start of season two of her show, Ruby, which airs on The Style Network. Originally she weighed 500 pounds and she has already lost over 100 pounds! During the second season Ruby will learn some new ways to eat properly and get in some more exercise now that she is much more mobile.
