Air Diet: The Craziest Diet Ever?

by Megan on March 14, 2010

I always enjoy reading about ridiculous fad diets inspired by celebrities. The latest one is the Air Diet, inspired by Dolce & Gabbana’s campaign featuring Madonna. Created by the French, the diet is pretty self-explanatory – you eat only air.

The biggest and probably only rule of the diet is to eat nothing except water and salt soup. You can, however, do everything else like buying groceries and preparing the food. Setting the table and serving the food. You can even hold it up to your mouth as if you were about to eat it, but then put it back down and not eat it. (Ridiculous hey?!)

Apparently the diet has been around for quite some time, but was made famous by Dolce & Gabbana. According to the Institute for Psychoactive Research in England, the goal is to breathe more by setting aside time every day for concentrated, rhythmical, deep breathing.

“Eventually, the effect will spread over the rest of the day, even when the technique is not being consciously performed, and you will be able to breath deeper. Without any change in the rest of your diet or exercise regimen, you will slowly start to lose weight.”

Celeb Diet Doc…
Sounds like torture to me…
