Alicia Silverstone Writes Diet Book

Emmy and Golden Globe Award nominee Alicia Silverstone proclaimed her vegan/vegatarian status back in 2007 when she modeled for a risque PETA ad that was actually pulled from the Comcast line-up of commercials. Over the past two years we haven’t seen much of her on the silver screen but she is currently writing a book titled, The Kind Diet: A Simple Guide to Feeling Great, Losing Weight, and Saving the Planet. When she first started writing the book she said in USA Today that the book,
“explores the connection between what we put in our bodies and what we’re doing to the planet, and how choosing the right foods in the kitchen can help you feeling lighter, sexier, and more alive.”
She is hoping to spread the word about certain healing foods to boost one’s health and to live better. The book is part informative and part cookbook as she gives some of her own recipes for healthy eating. For example, she writes a lot about the benefits of seaweed, which is rich in calcium and B vitamins and she said,
“It makes your skin look amazing and your hair really strong. One of the recipes in my book is leftover nori (a type of seaweed) wraps. Anything in the fridge I want to use up, I shove into nori. It’s delicious.”
The Kind Diet will be released in the fall of 2009.
