Aly Michalka: Diet and Exercise

20-year-old Aly Michalka has been a hit with tweens thanks to her work for Disney since she was just a teen. But now the star is about to hit the big leagues as her movie with co-star Vanessa Hudgens will be out next week and it will surely be a summer favorite. In an interview with Self Magazine this month she was asked how she finds time to fit in her workouts with such a busy schedule. Michalka explained that she always finds time to exercise which she does four times a week. She alternates her routine between kick-boxing, mixed martial arts, some weights and cardio.
“I think it’s important to stay fit on a regular basis instead of going on a crash diet or extreme exercise program.”
Aly also revealed some of her favorite workout music which includes music by Flo Rida, Britney Spears, MGMT and M.I.A. When asked if she had any healthy eating tips for Self Magazine readers she said she firmly believes in moderation but at the same time not depriving yourself of your favorite foods. She explained,
“It’s all about moderation and drinking lots of water! Some of my favorite snacks are string cheese, edamame and carrots with ranch–they’re easy to eat on the go and taste yummy.”
Her new movie Bandslam is out in theaters August 14th.
