Anne Hathaway: Diet Advice?

I came across this quote from Anne Hathaway in Us Weekly the other day that truly shocked me.
“I basically stuck with fruit, vegetables and fish (to slim down for the The Devil Wears Prada). I wouldn’t recommend that. Emily Blunt and I would clutch at each other and cry because we were so hungry.”
What(@#*%^??? This is insane. My only guess was that she was practicing portion control with this diet and this made her hungry. I am always amazed when I see information on portion control for fruits and veggies. Are people really in danger of gaining weight by eating fruits and veggies? No. In fact if you stuffed your face with fruits and veggies you are mathematically guaranteed to lose weight. That is provided your fruits and veggies are not dried and heavily processed.
A diet of fruit, veggies and fish is not only one of the healthiest diets but will also result in substantial weight loss. Anne was probably limiting her portion sizes which made her hungry. My advice is to eat as much fruits and veggies as possible and save the portion control for high calorie foods such as cookies, cake, bread, and cheese.

Good advice Dr Marc!! Fruit and veggies always fill me up, and most of them are so tasty! Her diet sounds boring and bland – there is only so much fish and salad you can handle! I might be getting confused here, but from what I’ve heard complex carbs like wholemeal pasta and brown bread are our friends – not the enemy! Hollywood needs to realise this!

Sorry, but what you write is totally stupid and cliché. No food can make you fat or slim.. 100 calories of fruits are not different of 100 calories of meat, for example. 100 calories are 100 calories! even if these 100 calories come from an ice-cream, vegetables or cheese.
The choice of foods is important for your health, not for your line. If you don’t eat enough calories, you will loss weight no matter if you eat healthy or not. If you eat too many calories, you will take on pounds, no matter if you eat healthy or not.Sorry, hope you understand my poor English – I’m French.

eh? BS.
Weight loss is pretty simple: burn more calories than you consume.
so if you are eating an insane amount of fruits/vegetables/fish. to the point that the total calories are higher than what you spend, there won’t be much weight loss.
granted the above foods are easier to digest and burn off given their nature but there is an ultimate fact:
when your metabolism finds its diet changed, like when you quit smoking, you WILL have a craving but you gotta control it.

The person who wrote the article assumed she was doing portion control with fruits; that may not have been the case. It’s just natural to get hungry when doing diets that only consist of particular things, such as fruits and fish; the body begins to crave other things and that manifests itself as hunger. It also requires much more food to get full on such diets, you almost have to stuff your face constantly, so I can understand why she felt hungry. For some reason, the author cannot.
