Apple Diet helps you lose weight

At the Obesity Society meeting new research was presented that showed people who ate an apple about 15 minutes before lunch consumed almost 190 fewer calories than when they didn’t have the apple.

Well this should not come as a surprise to many. Fruits and veggies are big on volume and fiber, and low on calories. So if you fill up on “big” low-cal foods like apples before you eat (presumably more calorie heavy foods) you’ll eat less and lose weight. Now it’s confirmed in the study.

I’m sure that this would be true of any fruit or veggie. This just as easily could have been the pear diet, tomato diet, bell pepper diet etc. Now an apple a day will keep the weight away but not the celeb diet doctor :)

I’m desperately trying to loose weight and I can’t seem to be motivated enough. I was a size 8 and now I’m a size 12. I am very unhappy about the way I look and I really really want to loose weight. I know I have to eat lots of vegetables and fruits, less carbohydrates etc. I have tried all this but without any luck. I was even doing 2 hours of exercises a day. I really don’t know what to do. I feel very depressed now. In march 2006, I stopped eating and became a size 4 or less, I’ve since put all the weight back on and much much MORE! Please HELP!

This makes so much sense. I make a fruit salad of chopped mixed fruits, fat-free cottage cheese, and sugar-free Jello that I keep on hand all the time. I can have a bowl of that before a meal and I eat a whole lot less. And the fruit salad is also my favorite snack. It’s fat-free and very low calorie. Sometimes I throw in a few chopped nuts, but that raises the calorie and fat count.

To that lillian crews person, maybe the diet simply isn’t suiting you because your body has become accustomed to it and now stores fat because your metabollism has slowed down. take your time with it, don’t expect the weight to drop off in a few days or even a week, it will take at least a few weeks to see progress. maybe try bodysculpting and not just running, like do some aerobics and resistance training with weights. I mean i’m a UK size 8 trying to get to a size 6, and i do aerobics every morning, then run around with my dog for half an hour in the evening, but i still eat cake because i know i can burn it off! eat more veg, less fruit cos it may have more sugar in it, also eat fish and turkey as they’re low fat low carb but high in protein.

Tobi -

I can agree somewhat. I see nothing attractive or healthy in some of them looking emaciated!!!
