Buddy Up for weight loss!

It’s true. Having a friend or buddy help you along, not only is more fun, but will help you to lose more weight and keep it off. Social support is a winning weight-loss strategy. While you can still lose weight and keep it off on your own, your chances for success are less. The use of social support is very high in those who have successfully maintained weight loss (80%) while those who lost weight but gained it back, were less likely to use social support (38%). Some support ideas:
- Buddy up with your spouse. Those who have spousal support are more successful at weight loss.
- Join a weight loss program with friends and family. Greater weight loss and maintenance is achieved when a person joins a weight loss program together with friends, as opposed to doing it on their own.
- Team up in a group Group support is more effective than the self-help method for weight loss. Better attendance at group meetings also correlated with greater weight loss.
Buddying up works. It helps you gain more control and confidence, greatly improving your chances for success.
