In December of 2009 reality star and former Playboy bunny Kendra Wilkinson gave birth to a healthy baby boy. Although she was ecstatic about having a son she was not happy about her post-baby body. Bunnies can get the blues when they look in the mirror and see a bloated image of their former selves.

In a recent interview she admitted she fell into a depression. She recounted one incident when she had some friends over, Holly Madison and Tiffany Fallon, and it was hard for her because their bodies were so ‘hot’. She was even worried that hubby Hank was going to check them out. She explained,

“I was just hoping Hank didn’t look at them! Having a different body was such a culture shock. I’m so used to being hot and fit…..It wasn’t that extreme, I did go through some depression.”

Kendra has been working hard to lose the weight and she said she still loves her legs and butt but hates the rest of her body. She doesn’t even like her breasts because she went from a 34C to an E. She said,

“Now that they’re going down, they’re a little bigger than I want,” she says. “I want to even out my body a little.”

The reality star is already contemplating plastic surgery as she wants to look like she did before she had children. Let’s hope she doesn’t pull a Heidi Montag and get 10 procedures at once to end up looking like a completely different creature.

Gabourey Sibide has made quite the impression over the past few months with her acting skills. Over the weekend while at the Oscar’s, Oprah Winfrey sung her praises and said that Gabourey will have a long and successful acting career. Granted, if Oprah’s on your side it doesn’t matter if you weigh 100 pounds or 400 pounds, because heck, you’ve got Oprah. But there is already talk in tinsel town as people are wondering if someone morbidly obese like Gabourey can get anymore roles. For example, on his radio show Howard Stern said,

“There’s the most enormous, fat black chick I’ve ever seen. She is enormous. Everyone’s pretending she’s a part of show business, and she’s never going to be in another movie.”

He continued the discussion with co-host Robin Quivers and said that Oprah was a liar for saying Gabourey will have a brilliant career because she’s the ’size of a planet’. Perhaps he’s right. After the obese Nikki Blonsky performed alongside John Travolta and Michelle Pfeiffer in Hairspray everyone thought her career was going to take off, and she hasn’t done anything since. However, Gabourey has already been casted to star opposite Zoe Kravitz in Yelling to the Sky and she has a recurring role in the Showtime series, The C Word, with Laura Linney.

What Howard Stern said was a little mean but Gabourey Sibide, regardless of her self-love philosphy, is morbidly obese. Surely the Hollywood bug will bite her soon and she’ll get her own weight loss reality show!

Elisabeth Rohm, one of the sexy stars of Heroes, talked about Kate Winslet  while attending the Movies for Grownups AARP event this week. She thinks actress  Kate Winslet is great and she’s always admired her for being so comfortable with her own body.

Regarding her own figure Elisabeth said,

“I’ve never felt the pressure to be skinny. I’ve always been fuller.”

She went on to say that she continues to workout but isn’t going to be ‘crazy’ about it. She said,

“I usually do something like circuit training. I have a short attention span.”

The weight loss reality star, Ruby Gettinger is slowly but surely dropping the weight. At one time she was up to 700 pounds but has since dropped 400 pounds. Considering she’s still considerably overweight she felt the need to respond to the situation that occurred this week when film director Kevin Smith was kicked off of flight while he was already on the plane and waiting for take-off.

Ruby said that she remembers one time while flying and weighing 700 pounds the man next to her was very upset and she felt bad about it. She said,

“After that experience, I never flew without a friend to sit next to me, or I would buy two seats.”

Ruby admitted she doesn’t know the details of Kevin’s experience with Southwest airlines but she thinks that these issues need to be taken care of discreetly while inside the airport, not once everyone is on the plane. She explained her reasoning,

“We need to remember that we may have different shells, but we are still the same on the inside.”

Ruby has done a great job on her weight loss journey and it’s good to see that she’s gaining the confidence now to talk about current issues in regard to weight and obesity.

The forever thin Victoria Beckham whose reputation and stardom is half-built on her skinny frame has recently made a name for herself in the fashion industry with her new clothing line. Her line features slim clothing with straight lines, fitted cuts and women with saddle bags need not apply. While co-hosting on The View this week she talked about her opinions on models and fashion and how she has every right to use thin models for her fashion line if she wants to. But she was quick to mention that no girl should be discriminated against be it a naturally thin girl or a chubby girl. She said,

“Most of these girls are naturally thin. And I don’t think we should be discriminating against someone because they are too thin or too curvy or too large or whatever it is.”

Victoria also explained that she has signed up for a campaign sponsored by the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) which calls for more responsibility in the fashion industry. The campaign, Health is Beauty, hopes to encourage designers to use models from a variety of backgrounds and sizes. Victoria said,

“The CFDA have reached out to designers, stylists and casting directors not to work with underage models, girls that are too thin and to be more ethnically aware.”

It’s surprising we haven’t heard more of the CFDA over the past year since there have been so many scandals in the modeling industry such as the Ralph Lauren incident as well as gaining popularity in the plus-size model market. It’s good to know they are finally stepping up to the plate.

Sophie Dahl may be a high school dropout (actually she was expelled from school), but she’s also a successful former model and more recently a cookbook author. The blonde beauty recently explained the reason behind her debut as a culinary author – she used to have nightmares about food.

Speaking to the New York Post, the 32-year-old who recently married musician Jamie Cullum said in one of her nightmares she was being chased through forests by men who were made from mashed potatoes in stripy tights. A little strange? Maybe not; after all she was a model. For years she had to put up with designers and fashion editors criticizing her now-famous curvy figure at shoots, and having pins stuck into outfits to hold them together on her body.

Singer and reality star Jessica Simpson has been a tabloid target for years. Be it too skinny, too fat, too chubby or too perky she’s been accused of everything. The 29-year-old is on the cover of Allure magazine, she’s svelte and feeling good about herself. But it’s not just her great shape that has her happy, it’s her peace of mind now that she’s learned to ignore the media and tabloids. During the interview with Allure she sarcastically said,

“When I walk through an airport and people go, ‘You’re not fat!’ I’m like, ‘Thanks. Thanks. That’s great. Good to know I’m not fat today. Thank you!’””

Now that she is finished filming her series The Price Of Beauty, she has a new outlook on beauty and she said she is ‘disgusted’ with the American obsession with weight. For example, one thing she learned is that in Asia people consider themselves more beautiful if they have whiter skin but in the US people strive to get tanned to appear skinnier. After everything she has learned, Jessica has decided to leave the weight-obsessed media and culture behind. She said,

“My job is to be creative. And I’m not weighing in for anybody.”

Jennifer Garner was on the Late Show with David Letterman this week to promote her new movie, Valentine’s Day. The 37-year-old mother of two is in great shape and you would think that she’s next in line to pose for some high-profile magazine. However, when Letterman asked her is she would pose in a swimsuit she jokingly replied,

“Not enough money in the world, not enough double-sided tape in the world to keep in everything in place.”

She then suggested that if anyone wants to see her in a swimming suit they would have to check out a past episode of Alias, a series she filmed before giving birth to two kids. Although Garner was all laughs while on the show she still made a point to let people know she’s happy with her body. She said,

“I’m very happy with myself.”

Actress Anne Hathaway is on the cover of the March issue of InStyle magazine. Considering she has a history of following quick-fix detox diets and giving peculiar diet advice, it’s no surprise to discover that the starlet considers herself to have ‘weird features’ and struggles to find balance in her life. Explaining that she thinks she has a small head, she told InStyle magazine,

“But you know, I’m not going to beat myself up. It’s my face. I’m not very pretty. But that’s ok because I do know that I look like myself, and I think at the end of the day, as nice as pretty is, authenticity is more important.”

Hmmm? Is she being self-effacing or looking for the tabloids to drag her name through the mud? Hathaway also mentioned that she strives to find equilibrium when it comes to working out and her daily life. She said,

“If I don’t work out at all, I have too much curve and no tone — which is not OK. It’s about finding balance.”

What a shame that the 27-year-old feels the need to be humble or whatever it is she tried to achieve with this interview. By saying that she’s not pretty is just making other young girls feel awful.
