Aislin Bates: The Real Reason She was Denied Health Insurance

Aislin Bates FamilyAislin Bates is by all accounts a healthy, active 2 year old who was denied health insurance by United Health Care for being too small. She weighs 22 pounds which is in the third percentile for children her age. Her father was dumbfounded stating:

“It seems as if they’re discriminating about the fact that she’s smaller, that her size is an issue,. I don’t see why that would be a factor in whether or not a child is healthy.”

America Ferrara Has Healthy Body Image

america-ferrara-has-healthy-body-image Ugly Betty star America Ferrera was spotted relaxing in the Bahamas over the weekend and taking some time off after filming the fourth season of the series. We normally see her in frumpy Betty Suarez gear or donned in a sweeping gown on the red carpet so this rare photo proves that she practices what she preaches and does not worry about her rather shapely figure. While many of her Hollywood contemporaries are bone thin and wearing clothes sized in the single digit varieties, the 25-year-old has always had a healthy body image.

Jessica Simpson Checks Into “Fattening Hut”

jessica-simpson-handles-weight-criticism

As Jessica Simpson travels around the globe to film her reality show, The Price of Beauty, it seems that she is learning to handle the criticism and media blows when it comes to her beauty and her body.  Her father Joe Simpson recently told Us Magazine that filming the new show has been good for Jessica because since she is always under scrutiny it is good for her to see how other parts of the world view beauty.  For example, while visiting in Uganada the beauty ambassador there knew about Jessica’s struggles with the media and the two talked about how beauty comes from within, it’s not what is on the outside.  Joe explained,

“In Uganda, we sat in a fattening hut because, in Uganda … fat is beautiful.  So the bigger you are, the more beautiful you are. She was with a girl who had been in a hut preparing for her wedding for two months and 25 days on a 5,000 calorie-a-day diet.”

Gabby Sidibe on Weight

Gabby-Sidibe-is-Body-Confident
Gabby Sidibe is the breakout star of the movie Precious, where she plays the role of an obese, abused, 16-year-old. The actress, who is actually 26 years old, has all of Hollywood talking because of her moving and primal performance,  but what most of us don’t know is that her true character is a 180-degree turn in comparison to her character in the movie. The director of the film, Lee Daniels, said that Sidibe had to ‘unwork’ all of her natural confidence in order to star in a role that required her to be shy, abused and fearful. Daniels also added,

“She is unequivocally comfortable in her body, in a very bizarre way. Either she’s in a state of denial or she’s so elevated that she’s on another level,” he says. “I had no doubt in my mind that she had four or five boyfriends, easily.”
