Jenny McCarthy’s Daily Diet

The bloggers at OK Magazine caught up with Jenny McCarthy as she was doing work this past week for the Weight Watchers program, Lose For Good.  After losing the 60 pounds from her pregnancy and then having a child diagnosed with autism has changed her diet; she is now well known for not eating wheat, dairy and sugar but she doesn’t deprive herself 100% of the time.  She explained,
“I don’t want to say ‘never eat never.’ I do go home and visit my mom and have some pizza. But on an everyday basis, I don’t eat wheat, dairy or sugar.”
She went on to give an example of a daily menu.
Breakfast: fruit
Lunch: Salad with walnuts and possibly with turkey or chicken
Dinner: Grains with fish or turkey
Snack: Watermelon
She said that being on Weight Watchers taught her how to control her portions and to this day she will still count the points in her head because she has them memorized.  Instead of filling up on potato chips like she used to she now fills up on fruits and veggies.  She said,
“I maintain this 125 lb. frame by watching my food. I know my points that go with my food from Weight Watchers now by heart. I just make sure I don’t go over that limit in a day.”

Billy Ray Cyrus Gives Health Tips

Country music singer Billy Ray Cyrus (father of Miley Cyrus) has teamed up with Hellmann’s Mayonnaise to benefit the non-profit organization, Feeding America.  The father of six most surely knows what it’s like to pack six lunches for the kids to take to school, likewise he participated in the Hellmann’s Sandwich Swap ‘n’ Share event.  The bloggers at Ok Magazine asked him if he had any back-to-school traditions that he could share but the 48-year-old singer said their family doesn’t have any but instead they just make sure the kids get to school and have all of their books.  He was also asked if he has a nutrition lesson he shares with his kids.  He replied,
“I think the most important food lesson is to drink plenty of water. I always tell them to drink lots of water. Especially with the teenagers — drink lots of water. It cleans them out, keeps their body hydrated.”
Water does so many good things for the body.  It flushes toxins out of the organs, clears the skin, carries nutrients to the cells and for those dieting it keeps the belly full.  Most doctors recommend eight, 8-ounce glasses a day in order to keep the body in check.

Jenny McCarthy: Diet and Exercise

Jenny McCarthy caught up with US magazine and gave some diet tips and techniques to their readers.  After the 36-year-old gave birth approximately six years ago she had 60 pounds she needed to drop so she joined her local Weight Watchers group.  That was back in 2002, and now because of her success with the program she is an ambassador for the Weight Watchers’ Lose for Good Campaign, a program that helps people lose weight and raises money to fight hunger.
The petite Jenny McCarthy is 5-foot-7 and weighs 125 pounds, and she told the magazine that the secret to being so slim is to have a healthy lifestyle. She does Bikram yoga twice a week and goes out for a 45-minute jog twice a week. She said,
“Working out tightens you up and helps burn calories, but what you put in your mouth makes all the difference.”
Apart from exercising Jenny is sure to eat healthy, especially after she discovered she has 60 food allergies so now she maintains a diet that is free of wheat, dairy and sugar but eats plenty of fresh fruits and veggies.  Her boyfriend Jim Carrey is also off of wheat and dairy so the two of them have embraced gardening.  She said,
“We just planted our own organic garden in the backyard, and we love it!”
Currently, Jenny has a blog on health at Oprah Winfrey’s website and may have her own talk show coming out soon thanks to Oprah.

Gabrielle Reece: 30-Day Health Challenge

Model and volleyball superstar Gabrielle Reece is a contributor for Yahoo Health.  In her latest entry she has devised a 30-day health challenge that holistically targets exercise, nutrition, and lifestyle habits to reach our goals.  She claims that it’s not ‘rocket science’ but something doable and fun to do with a friend.  Thus far, she has explained how to approach Days 1-7.
Day 1: Lifestyle – Buy a planner and write down your goals for the next 30 days as well as things that need to be done.  Then mark them off once you accomplish them.
Day 2: Fitness – Wake up a little bit earlier than usual and go for a walk.  Start with 20  minutes and then add a minute each day until you’re up to 50 minutes a day.
Day 3: Diet – Measure out 70 ounces of water and drink that through out the day, not all at once.  Do this every day from here on out.
Day 4: Lifestyle – Contact a friend and ask him/her to join you in the lifestyle challenge.
Day 5: Fitness – Add stretches to your morning walk that you started back on Day 2.  Here is Gabrielle’s list of stretches:
1. rectus abdominus (core stretch)
2. child’s pose – reach arms way out front (back stretch)
3. & 4. grab toe with arm, reach over and switch legs (hamstring, lat stretch)
5. runners lunge – try to touch forearms to the ground  and switch legs (hamstring stretch)
6. runners lunge with a toe grab, or just stand up and grab quad (quad and hamstring stretch)
7. triceps stretch – goal is to bring your fingertips in between shoulder blades (triceps stretch)
8. hamstring hang – (hamstring, lower back stretch)
Day 6: Diet – Remember breakfast, it’s the most important meal of the day because it gets the metabolism going.
Day 7: Lifestyle – Take a healthy snack to work and take enough to share with colleagues.
Stay tuned to get the inside scoop on Days 8-30.
