Mel B, Scary Spice: Weight Loss

Since the birth of her second child Angel, in April of this year, Mel B or better known as scary spice has since lost 40 lbs of her baby weight. And she claims she did it without dieting. Instead she got to work with a trainer less than a week after giving birth. And lately she has been burning up the dance floor on Dancing in with the Stars, putting in 6 hour training days for the past 6 weeks. Mel B says

“I don’t believe in diets, I believe in listening to your body and being consistent. If you want a burger, have one, but balance it out the next day by eating salmon and vegetables.”

Hmmm… I am always amused by such statements and looking at what Heather Graham eats, I can say without hesitation she does diet, but doesn’t know it. While there may be some extraordinary individuals who can eat whatever they want without gaining weight, for 99.49% of the population this does not hold true. Ricki Lake: Diet and Weight Loss

Ricki Lake’s remarkable weight loss
is making headlines again in this week’s issue of Ok Magazine, to help publicize the premiere of her Lifetime movie, Matters of Life and Dating. If you recall Ricki was profiled on the US magazine front cover a couple months ago. At her heaviest she weighed 260 pounds in 1991, and had been on a slew of diets including South Beach, the Zone, Weight Watchers, Jenny Craig, Atkins and the Master Cleanse. Liza Minnelli: Weight loss on Jenny Craig

Liza Minelli is reported to have lost 43 lbs on Jenny Craig. I ran across this in the recent issue of People mag but it looks like this is old news since there are reports of her weight loss in January of this year. Liza was also reported to have “thanked” Kirstie Alley for joining Jenny Craig. Call me a little skeptical but this smacks of a carefully orchestrated marketing plan by Jenny Craig to get celebs to endorse these diets. Oprah: Weight Gain and Hypothyroidism

Oprah Winfrey has confirmed speculation that she has gained weight, posting on her website that she has hypothyroidism which caused her to gain 20 lbs.

“My body was turning on me. First hyperthyroidism, which sped up my metabolism and left me unable to sleep for days. (Most people lose weight. I didn’t.) Then hypothyroidism, which slowed down my metabolism and made me want to sleep all the time. (Most people gain weight. I did! Twenty pounds!)

Whoopi Goldberg Drops 50 lbs on LA Weight Loss

Whoopi Goldberg has been making headlines recently. She not only replaced Rosie O’Donnell on the View, but lost 50 lbs on the LA Weight Loss plan. She tells In Touch that “I was 210 pounds and I got down to 142″ but recently regained some weight to 157 pounds. “I started slacking off, but I’m going back on it. I really like the program. Katherine Heigl’s 5 Factor Diet Plan

Katherine Heigl has slimmed down while on the hit series Grey’s Anatomy with the help of celeb trainer Harley Pasternak and his 5 Factor Diet Plan. Katherine’s lunchtime workouts include 25- 50 minute sessions that begin and end with cardio and mix arm, leg and ab moves in between. Her 5 Factor diet plan consists of 5 small meals a day that contain:

  1. Lean protein such as turkey
  2. Healthy carbs including fruit, veggies and whole grains
  3. 5-10 grams of fiber (such as 1 cup of berries or half a cup of cooked veggies)
  4. Healthy fats (found in salmon or nuts)
  5. Water of tea
