The inside skinny... on Channing Tatum Packs on the Protein

Channing Tatum Packs on the Protein

Channing Tatum stars in next month’s summer release G.I. Joe: Rise of the Cobra so naturally he’s on the cover of GQ Magazine for the month of August.  This hunk of an actor actually has three films coming out in the next eight months and even though he’s shell shocked by all the attention he’s getting he takes it all in stride.
For the G.I. Joe film he had to get into action hero shape which these days requires a chiseled look and not so much bulk like the days of Arnold Schwarzenegger and Jean Claude Van Dame.  To prepare for his role Tatum practiced a protein-rich diet.  He told GQ Magazine,
“Just chicken and broccoli and brown rice. Four times a day. And egg whites.”
The 29-year-old surely did some weight lifting and cardio also but we can only imagine how intense that was.  As for his diet this is not a diet one can keep up for a long time but it is a good one to build lean muscle mass if you’re already slim and not trying to lose large amounts of weight.  For example, female bodybuilders follow a similar diet a few weeks before competition in order to get a chiseled and sculpted look.  Always consult your doctor before following such a strict diet to be sure you’re getting not just protein but also the necessary greens and carbs.
