Christie Brinkley’s Workout Secrets

by Shannon on December 13, 2010

Supermodels look like they have it all, that their sexy, toned, and slim bodies come naturally. However, that is not necessarily the case. Often times, they have to work for the bodies they show off.

Fifty-six year old Christie Brinkley is a testament to that fact.  She still has to workout in order to keep her much touted shape and now she’s sharing some of her fitness secrets.

Secret 1:  Mix it up

Christie gets bored if she does the same thing every time she works out so she makes it a point to vary her workout routines, except for how she starts her workouts.

The only constant that I have in my life is that I start whatever I do with my Total Gym, because I believe it helps keep me from getting injured,” she explains.

Secret 2: Start with the Total Gym

Christie equates starting her exercise routine with the Total Gym to starting her exercise routine with yoga (which she also does). She feels that both yoga and the Total Gym help prevent injuries by preparing the muscles by stretching them and warming them up.  In addition to preventing injury, it helps work her abs, arms, upper and lower body, and helps strengthen her muscles.

Secret 3: Don’t have a set workout time

Christie works out on her Total Gym for about 15 mininutes per day, but other than that, she does not have a set amount of time that she works out.  Instead, she focuses on physical activities that she enjoys doing.

Some of the things I like to do include kayaking, stand up paddle-boarding, sometimes surfing, sometimes rafting, running on the beach, and walking down the beach waving my arms—I call it swimming down the beach. Kind of silly looking, but I don’t care,” she says.

Secret 4: Sneak in workouts

Christie sneaks in workouts throughout  her day by combining workout moves with seemingly mundane tasks.  She does things like bend her leg behind her when she is brushing her teeth so that she squeezes her butt muscles while stretching her leg muscle.  She also pretends to sit in a chair that isn’t’ there while she is brushing her hair.  That way, she can do squats while getting ready for the day.

Another thing she does is walk up and down the bleachers while standing on the sidelines of her kids’ game.  She also used them to do arm presses.  Even though the other parents made fun of her, it helped he stay warm and stay active.

I also try to get in 100 push-ups every day. It’s really easy. I keep a rolled up yoga mat under my bed. I throw it down and I’ll do 30 push-ups before I get in the shower. Then I do another 20 before I dry my hair, and now I’ve done 50. After I dry my hair, I’ll come back and I’ll do more,” she says.

Secret 5: Don’t stress about being too busy

Christie doesn’t worry if she is too busy to fit a work out in on some days.  She just thinks of those days as her days off to rest, but if she’s really that busy, she’s probably sneaking in her workouts on the run.

Definitely believe that which you said. Your favorite reason seemed to be on the
web the simplest thing to be aware of. I say to you, I definitely get annoyed while people think about worries that they
plainly don’t know about. You managed to hit the nail upon the top
and also defined out the whole thing without having side effect , people can take a signal.
Will likely be back to get more. Thanks
