Christina Applegate has been breast cancer-free for a year.  We’re seeing more of her on the red carpet as of late and she’s been talking of movie making once again.  Most recently while at the Feed American charity event she revealed that she and the powers-that-be are in the beginning talks of an Anchorman 2.  She also mentioned at the event that she follows a strict macrobiotic diet and when asked what guests could expect if they were to go to her house for dinner she simply responded that her fridge only has macrobiotic food.  So what you see is what you get.  She explains,

“I have a chef that cooks me all my macrobiotic food.  But every once and a while, it’s ok to live your live.”

So what is Applegate referring to when she wants to indulge?  It’s pizza with plenty of cheese.  She prefers New York or Chicago style pizza so when she really gets the craving she’ll have pizza flown from Lou Malnati’s in Chicago.  She warned,

“Don’t tell my macrobiotic lady about that.”

Other stars who follow a macrobiotic diet include Madonna, Gwyneth Paltrow and Kim Kardashian.

The macrobiotic diet has Japanese origins and consists primarily of whole grains (brown rice), veggies, soup (miso), beans and legumes along with some seafood.

I am trying to contact Christina Appletgate regarding her macrobiotic diet. I am a mom who of three boys and step-mom to to daughters. I became very ill about a year ago and have been in and out of ER. I have told the doctors if they could figure out my digestive system that I would be better. I read her article about her being on the macrobiotic diet. I have seen nurtritionalist and no one ever told me about the diet. I then learned a little about it from my physical therapist. I have just been terminated from my job because of my illness. I am trying to get a lawyer because I was told I have a case for wrongful termination due to the disability act. I was diagnosed with colitis and still bleeding from the rectum and my grandfather had colon cancer and we have a long history of people on both sides dying of cancer. Please help or have resources to help me. I could just cry I will be losing my house and car because my job decided not to pay me and then trying to eat healthy and know what to do is hard. Everyone has a different answer.

Any advice and if they know of any resources to get the foods I need and not have it be costly would be great.

Warm regards!

Hi Stephanie I I just read your letter, I am a macrobiotic and whole food chef. I became interested in macrobiotics in the 80's (I am 59 yrs old) and I had a nice cooking business in Ma. (one of my clients was Cheryl Richardson, a coach on Oprah), I moved to Or. and continued my cooking and started teaching children cooking, I have moved to Va where the thinking of macrobiotics does not even exist. Because of that I miss being around that type of thinking, so I am very interested in starting a macrobiotic/whole food chat room. I had a client in Ma who had colitis, I cooked for until I moved to Or and I saw her get better doing this kind of diet, it takes hard work and you have to be very consistent with it, I would love to keep in touch with you and give you recipes and tips. One of the hardest things to do is find a good food source, when I moved to Va, I just wanted to cry when I went into the grocery stores, they are horrible. But, I have found a great website and get my foods on line it is Discount Natural Foods they sell quality macrobiotic foods and cooking equipment, I just love them, and everything is shipped to my house. My phone, 804-695-2708 Where do you live? You can call me also my days off are Tue & Wed
