David Arquette Unleashes On NY Times Blogger over Weight Debate

by Betsy on Celebs on January 28, 2010

Last week the world oohed and aahed at the beautiful celebrities that walked the red carpet for the 2010 Golden Globes. Of course all of the women looked fabulous but New York Times blogger Andy Port wrote an essay called, ‘Now Scrutinizing: A Rounder Golden Globes’ where she actually suggested that women such as Jennifer Aniston, Kate Hudson and Courtney Cox had put on some weight. She wrote,

“It’s almost criminal to name names, because the very actresses whose body-mass indexes have been the subject of endless tabloid speculation are the very ones now sporting sexier curves.”

Well, Cox’s husband, David Arquette actually responded to the article because he’s tired of the media drawing attention to the weight debate. He said,

“Who really cares? I love round people, I love skinny people. I love people in general; we’ve got to get past labels and stop being so critical about everything.”

How great to see celebrities getting vocal about the media, tabloids, and living under a microscope. I wish that when interviewers ask the celebrities things like, ‘So what’s your workout?’ or ‘Tell us your diet secrets,’ that they would repeat Arquette’s question, ‘Who really cares?”

Wow, the NY Times certainly unleashed the great weight debate! Personally I think all the woman look great and don’t really know what all the fuss is about.
