Drew Carey’s Diet Plan to Reach His Weight Loss Goal of 170 lbs

Drew Carey, the host of The Price is Right, has set another weight loss goal, after already slimming down from a heavy 262 pounds to a happy 185 pounds.  He’s now planning to lose 15 more pounds until October 31st and reach his target weight of 170 pounds.

Carey has managed to lose 10 inches from his waist thanks to a healthier lifestyle. He’s now in control of his diet, eats good food, exercises almost every day and drinks plenty of water. Although this diet change was extreme, considering the 52-year-old’s breakfast consisted of pancakes, sausage, cheese sandwich, egg, and a couple of coffee cups with eight packs of sugar, Carey says that eating healthier is a lot easier.

“The hardest diet I was ever on was the one when I was fat,” he admits. “You can only wear fat clothes, you don’t feel good, your sex life gets damaged, you don’t have energy for anything. It’s horrible.”

Carey decided it was time to lose weight when he realized he’s fat enough to die from a heart attack before hitting 60.

“I always thought I was going to die before I was 60,” he confessed. “My father died of a heart attack in his 40s. I’m not an idiot. The writing was on the wall.”

So that’s when Carey took the initiative and got in touch with Marc Vahanian, his former trainer from after his surgery back in 2001.

He wrote to him: “Are you still in the lifesaving business? Because I need to have my life saved.”

Carey started with a detox diet that lasted two weeks, and which included vegetables, lean protein, fruits, vitamins and supplements, as well as 64 ounces of water every day.

  • Breakfast

Scrambled egg whites with a side of fruit

  • Lunch

Turkey burger (no cheese), green salad with balsamic vinegar, steamed broccoli

  • Dinner

Grilled chicken breast, steamed green vegetable, green salad with balsamic vinegar

  • Snacks

An apple, a handful of grapes, or a sugar-free popsicle

Carey also exercised six days a week, about 45 minutes a day.  His workout routine included bike riding, jogging,  treadmill, swimming, water jogging or elliptical.

The Price is Right host says that he is now planning to make healthy living a part of his job.

Has anyone run the numbers on his supposed diet? That’s about 750 calories, max. And he’s working out 45 minutes on top of it? I call BS, or else he’s eating in an unhealthy way.
