The inside skinny... on Elisabeth Hasselbeck Denies Plagiarizing Diet Book

Elisabeth Hasselbeck Denies Plagiarizing Diet Book

Just a couple of months ago Elisabeth Hasselbeck, the self-diagoned Celiac’s disease sufferer and co-host on The View, released her book The G Free Diet and it has since received rave reviews and has sold loads of copies.  Now, it has been reported that a woman named Susan Hassett is seeking $3 million dollars and claiming that she sent Hasselbeck a copy of her own book – the self-published Living with Celiac Disease – as well as a  cooking video, newspaper story and her business card with a personal note. Hasset says that she sent the information to Hasselbeck to simply give her some information about Celiac’s disease since she had mentioned her diagnosis on The View.
This week, a lawsuit has been filed in Boston federal court but Hasselbeck denies all of the allegations.  A statement from her publisher reads,
“There is no basis for the allegations in the Complaint as published in the press. Ms. Hasselbeck worked diligently and tirelessly on her book and is disappointed in this attempt to discredit her work and her ability to bring this important message to the public.”
Elisabeth also addressed the issue on her show this week and said,
“I just want to assure you the allegations are without merit and are being handled appropriately.”
