Ellen Degeneres’ Vegan Diet

Talk show host Ellen Degeneres is an avid vegan, animal-rights advocate and healthy living poster child for the 50-somethings of the US. In a recent interview she revealed a bit about her dieting past and how these days she prefers to eat right based on lifestyle choices instead of trying to follow a diet.  She said that when she was younger she loved fried foods and she ate things like hamburgers, fried chicken and steak.  She continues,

“And then some things happened in my life, and, as a lot of young girls do, I put on weight as a barrier, as protection, to keep people away.”

After that time period Ellen was always struggling to lose weight but diets never worked for her. Instead, she has changed her way of life and sticks to a strict meal plan:

“No animals, no dairy, nothing processed; a lot of soup, veggies, rice, beans, legumes.”

Ellen credits her incredible energy level to her sugar-free eating, regular exercise and solid relationship with her wife, Portia de Rossi.
