<p>Last week while promoting her new reality show <a href="http://www.celebritydietdoctor.com/carnie-wilson-unstapled/">Unstapled</a>, the overweight <a href="http://www.celebritydietdoctor.com/carnie-wilson-weight-loss-and-diet/">Carnie Wilson</a> felt the need to speak out about the current tabloid obsession with Jessica Simpson&#8217;s weight. While appearing on the <a href="http://www.celebritydietdoctor.com/dr-oz-diet-tip-dont-do-this-or-youll-gain-a-lot-of-weight/">Dr. Oz</a> show, she said she gets the urge to &#8216;throw up&#8217; when she hears that Jessica is called fat. She said<span id="more-8613"></span></p>
<blockquote><p>“I think<a href="http://www.celebritydietdoctor.com/jessica-simpsons-5-factor-diet-and-workout-plan/"> Jessica Simpson</a> looks great, and this is why we have a serious problem. [When Jessica gets called 'fat'] it definitely contributes to the problem of weight issues and pressure that women — and now, unfortunately, young girls — feel, the pressure that they have to look a certain way.”</p></blockquote>
<p>She also said that when the media shows that Jessica has gained for example 20 pounds it&#8217;s actually just a real world example and that even at her heaviest she&#8217;s actually the weight most women would strive to be. Essentially, Jessica is not fat and nor has she ever been.</p>
<p>While on the Dr. Oz show Carnie also found out that she&#8217;s pre-diabetic and that she is labeled as morbidly obese. This was a real wake-up call for Carnie and she&#8217;s now more determined than ever to lose the weight.</p>

<p>The Australian Idol judge <a href="http://www.celebritydietdoctor.com/ian-dickson-signs-up-with-jenny-craig/">Ian Dickson</a> was one of the first male celebrities to sign up with <a href="http://www.celebritydietdoctor.com/jenny-craig-for-men/">Jenny Craig, Jen4Men</a>. Over the weekend he revealed the results of his weight loss having shed approximately 35 pounds in less than six months. He told the <em>Daily Telegraph</em> that he wishes he would have done it sooner. The 46-year-old said,<span id="more-8601"></span></p>
<blockquote><p>&#8220;I&#8217;ve gone through my 30s and most of my 40s with a ridiculous beer gut, man boobs and double chin&#8230;.You look at yourself (in the mirror) and you realize the only reason I&#8217;ve got this big floppy gut and floppy man boobs is that I was just too lazy to do anything about it.&#8221;</p></blockquote>
<p>He&#8217;s been working with a trainer twice a week and plays golf three times a week. He said he&#8217;s working on his core but not sure if he&#8217;s aiming for a six-pack or just some basic sculpting. As for his diet he has given up the potato chips, french fries and the mayonnaise and butter on his sandwiches and instead likes to eat salads and veggies. He does still allow himself a dessert from time to time. He explained,</p>
<blockquote><p>&#8220;I have given up the drink and I&#8217;ve given up going out and partying, and now I&#8217;ve given up unhealthy food, and sometimes that results in me making the odd extra trip to the desert trolley.&#8221;</p></blockquote>

<p><span id="more-8589"></span>Even those these days the 24-year-old is slim she has had times when she&#8217;s a bit on the chubby side and it&#8217;s been the pressure of working in the music industry that has made her fall victim to this disorder. She told the magazine that when she&#8217;s done photo shoots for brands that she&#8217;s been told to have a cigarette instead of eat. She also said that the only reason she&#8217;s been asked to model for campaigns such as <em>Chanel</em> is because she lost the weight and if it weren&#8217;t for that she never would have gotten those modeling gigs. She said,</p>

<p>Most recently, she has put on some weight because of the steroid injections she took for laryngitis but Allen is happy with who she is and is learning to deal with her dysmorphia issues.</p>

<p>Defensive end for the Indianapolis Colts, Dwight Freeney, has been called a lab rat by his Super Bowl final teammates because his dedication to attaining and maintaining specific weight goals has led him to try things that have to yet be scientifically proven.<span id="more-8580"></span></p>
<p>Currently, Dwight follows the Sare Mellman’s Dietary Progression, a diet that’s based on blood tests and analysis. Every few months the 29-year-old has his blood drawn to determine which foods will work best for his body and for the goals he sets himself and which foods won’t. For example, according to his blood, Dwight should rather eat tomatoes instead of lettuce and pork instead of chicken. Dwight doesn’t eat bananas anymore because it has been blamed for his head-to-toe cramps. Another example of his “weird” diet, a few weeks ago he ate only beef and pinto beans Wednesday to Sunday.</p>
<p>Not even eating out has an effect on this super disciplined footballer. When he goes to a restaurant he brings his food along and instructs the chef on how to prepare it – no oil, no pepper, no garlic, no garnish, no powder and no pan spray.</p>

<p>Speaking to <em>Entertainment Tonight</em>, Kevin says he was shocked when he saw the notorious photographs of him on the golf course – he actually thought they were photoshopped!</p>
<blockquote><p>“When I saw this picture, I did not think that I was that big,” he told the tabloid entertainment TV show. “I thought it was Photoshopped. You know? And, then I realized that I was just letting myself go.”</p></blockquote>
<p>Kevin jumped at the chance to appear on the reality weight-loss TV show and credits his kids as his main motivation.</p>
<blockquote><p>“I still ran around with them a little bit but not as much as I do now,” Kevin says in the interview. “It was easier to eat more when they were younger because they weren’t as active. Now all of them want to play sports, hit the T-ball and run around the backyard and ride bikes. I could barely make it up the hill on the side of my house.”</p></blockquote>

<p><strong>Buffalo Chicken Wings</strong><br />
Tanya actually threads chicken breast strips on skewers and then bakes them in spicy buffalo sauce because there’s not much meat on chicken wings.<br />
<em>1. Pour 3 tablespoons hot pepper sauce, 2 tablespoons white vinegar, 1 tablespoon corn starch, 2 teaspoons paprika and 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper in a small pot and heat on the stove top until thickened.<br />
2. Tenderize 2 pounds of chicken breast strips with a fork so the sauce can sink into the meat. Thread the chicken onto skewers.<br />
3. Brush the chicken with the thickened sauce. Place in a casserole dish and bake for 15 minutes at 350 degrees F. Brush the hot chicken with the remaining sauce. Turn and bake for another 5 to 10 minutes until done.</em><br />
Serves: 8<br />
Nutrition Content (per serving): 194 calories, 4 g fat, 1 g saturated fat, 2 g carbohydrates, 0 g fiber, 35 g protein, 217 mg sodium</p>
<p><strong>Potato Skins</strong><br />
Potato skins in general are healthy, but it’s all the extra toppings like bacon, cheese and sour cream that turn this dish into a nightmare.<br />
<em>1. Scrub 3 medium potatoes, prick with a fork and bake at 400 degrees F for 40-45 minutes until tender.<br />
2. When cool, slice each potato in half lengthwise and scoop out the inside leaving about a quarter-inch inch shell left.<br />
3. Spray the inside of the potatoes with olive oil and then sprinkle with the salt and pepper.<br />
4. Chop the salmon and top the potatoes with it.<br />
5. Bake about 10 minutes more until the potato begins to brown.<br />
6. Season with a dash of cayenne pepper and top with 4 ounces of smoked salmon.</em><br />
Serves: 6<br />

<p>New research by scientists suggests that the thin air at high altitudes increases an individual’s metabolism and decreases their appetite, even without exercise. The small study found that obese participants who spent time at a weight-loss facility in the mountains lost weight without being put on a diet.<span id="more-8538"></span></p>
<p>In the study led by Dr. Florian Lippl, of Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich, Germany, 20 obese male participants, each weighing around 230 pounds, first spent a week at low altitudes, then two weeks at a high altitude (8 700 feet above sea level) and finally four weeks at normal altitude. The men were allowed to eat whatever they wanted, but were forbidden rigorous exercise.</p>
<p>Researchers found that at the high altitude participants’ bodies produced higher levels of the “hunger hormone” leptin, which made the men feel fuller. Over the course of the study the men lost on average 3,3 pounds, eating 734 less calories a day at the high altitude.</p>
<blockquote><p>“With a little humor, I tell my patients now, if they want to take holidays, they should think of mountain holidays [rather] than spending their holidays at the sea,” Lippl told <em>LiveScience</em>.</p></blockquote>
