It’s been revealed that Britain’s Prime Minister Gordon Brown eats up to nine bananas a day in an attempt to lose weight in the run-up to the general elections in June this year. Apparently he’s using the fruit as a substitute for his addiction to KitKat chocolate bars.
The British PM is under strict orders from his wife, Sarah, to cut out the chocolates after she found out that he would scoff down up to three a day, it was reported in The Sun newspaper. A source within the prime minister’s office says Brown likes to chew on something during long meetings, and his wife is happy that he’s made the healthy swap from KitKats and sugary sodas to bananas.
“Like with everything, Gordon is an obsessive. Bananas are his big thing now – he can’t get enough of them,” the source told the daily newspaper. “He knows he’s up against two fitter and younger men in David Cameron and Nick Clegg during the Election campaign, so he’s keen to look a bit leaner. He has taken up jogging and goes to the gym.”
Staff at his office and residence have been instructed to always make sure a bowl full of the high-fiber and high-potassium fruit is in Brown’s library, and can even be seen on the windowsill overlooking the back garden.
Celeb Diet Doc…
Sounds like a great idea to me.. anytime you replace refined sugar products with whole fruits you’ll lose weight and get healthy. He could go for some higher water content fruits such as apples, oranges, cherries and lose even more weight..
