Hannah Teter’s Vegetarian Diet

by Megan on February 26, 2010

Vancouver Winter Olympic medalist Hannah Teter has bagged herself a gold and silver medal at this year’s event, but those aren’t the only colors she likes surrounding herself with. The 23-year-old is quite a greeny at heart and a vegetarian.

Although she’s only been on her vegetarian diet since last year, she already feels stronger not only physically but mentally as well. She says she also feels “springier” and that more people would turn to vegetarianism if only they knew how animals were slaughtered for human consumption.

Every morning Hannah drinks a power smoothie, but for dinner she cooks up a good vegetarian stir-fry with Quinoa, which is high-protein grain that is similar to brown rice.

“I don’t overcook, because you lose what’s good in the food,” she was quoted as saying.

If Hannah’s success at the winter Olympics is any sort of indication as to the effects of a vegetarian diet, I’m sure many more dieters would switch in a heartbeat.

Celeb Diet Doc Says…
I love the fact that Hannah uses quinoa. Quinoa was the mother grain of the ancient Aztecs and tastes delish. I use quinoa instead of rice in all my recipies (Quinoa Chinese Stir Fry, Curry Quinoa and even Quinoa Paella). Just use 2 parts water to one part quinoa, simmer for 15-20 minutes and you’ve got perfect quinoa every time.
