Jack LaLanne: Diet and Fitness

Before Jane Fonda and her leotard, the Biggest Loser reality show and the Kardashian sisters slinging Quick Trim, there was Jack LaLanne; the fitness guru of all times. Now at 95 years old he is still going strong with a healthy heart, body and mind and there is nothing that gets in his way. He may not be leading exercises on TV like he used to but he’s still in the fitness business and recently finished a tour promoting his eleventh book titled, Live Young Forever: 12 Steps to Optimum Health, Fitness and Longevity
LaLanne’s fitness career started back in 1936 when he opened a gym in Oakland, California. Then in 1951 he got his big break and got his own exercise show on television that lasted until 1985. The fitness pioneer then went on to sell juicers on infomercials, write books and let’s just say this man has enough money under his mattress to retire.
So how does Jack LaLanne do it? What’s his secret? Well drinking those daily fresh squeezed juices give you loads of vitamins and if you ever hear him explain it you’re convinced to be a full-time juicer for the rest of your life! In addition, he still works out two hours a day doing mostly swimming and lifting weights. He said,
“I work at living. Most people work at dying. Dying’s easy.”
Next time you head to the gym for your new and improved yogalates class, remember that if it weren’t for Jack LaLanne you would still be doing daily toe touches and old-fashioned calisthenics as your exercise regime.
