Jaime Pressly: Weight Loss, Diet and Workout

Just 11 weeks after giving birth, Jaime Pressly is seen here with her fiance,
DJ Eric Cubiche, celebrating her 30th birthday in Las Vegas

The My Name is Earl actress Jaime Pressly wasted no time in shedding her baby weight after the birth of her son, Dezi, on May 11. She has already lost 30 pounds and is currently 5 pounds away from her goal weight of 120. She reveals, “I worked hard to lose this weight for the show and myself.”  How did Jaime lose the weight?

Jamie Pressly: Diet
To lose the first 10 lbs, she used a 7 day detox plan, consisting of 3 days of only cabbage soup and veggies, with a potato and grilled chicken by day 6. Now she says, “I’m on a strict protein diet,” which consists of 4-6 daily mini-meals.

Jaime Pressly: Workout
Jaime doesn’t mess around when it comes to working out. Her workout sessions, with trainer Michael Jones, are 3 hours long, 5 times a week . Her hard work has certainly paid off as she has trimmed 4 inches off her belly to a size 26 waist doing a mix of cardio and core work (push ups and situps).

On the pressure to stay thin in Hollywood:

“People are asking about the next baby. It’s like, ‘Can I get back in shape first?’ I don’t want to lose my job!”

Celebrity Diet Doctor Weigh in..
As any regular reader of this blog will know I am not a fan of fasting detox plans. Jaime’s “detox” doesn’t appear to be as extreme as the Lemonade Diet, Master Cleanse or 22 lbs in 21 days Martha Vineyard Diet since she reports eating chicken and potatoes in addition to soup and veggies. Very low calorie extreme “detox” diets will wreak your metabolism and will cause a build up of “toxins” despite the false claims that they will “detox” your body.

While there are weight loss advantages to having protein with every meal, “a strict protein” diet strikes me as extreme considering Americans already consume about 3 times more protein than is necessary. Excessive consumption of animal protein has been linked with an increased risk of cancer, osteoporosis, and kidney stones.

While working out is great, as far as Jaime’s diet is concerned…. my advice is don’t do this at home.

Again Dr Marc your advice is spot on!! After reading about Jaime being on a high-protein diet, I had to cringe. I have been vegetarian for about a year now and have read many times about eating too much protein – people should realise that it should be carbs, not protein, that are the base of any diet.

And as for her 3 hour workouts, no wonder she looks so good!! However, I would rather spend that time with my child!
