Jake Gyllenhaal’s Diet and Workout

by Betsy on Celebs on June 1, 2010

Jake Gyllenhaal, the hunkish warrior in Prince of Persia, worked hard for those abs and biceps while preparing for the film. In recent interviews he revealed he practiced Parkour to get in shape but his trainer Simon Waterson said that it was no easy task and it took four months of rigorous workouts and dieting to get in shape. Waterson compared it to an ‘athlete’s life’ where he was eating six times a day and working out twice a day. He explained,

“I made sure he trained when he needed to train. He was fed when he needed to be fed. And rested when he needed to rest. You have to bear in mind, this was an intensive four months of training. He was living an athlete’s life.”

Take a look at Jake’s daily workout and diet plan:

Pre-Workout Snack
Half a banana, nuts and an espresso

Morning Workout
A 90-minute cardio workout while wearing a 20-pound flak jacket to simulate the weight of armor. He did 10 minutes of sprints, then abs, and then followed that sequence five times. He finished it with a 10-minute jog.

Breakfast
Egg-white omelet, protein shake and an isotonic drink

Lunch
Baked potato with tuna and salad

Evening Workout
An hour of resistance training with cables to simulate sword fights as well as pull-ups, press-ups and abs exercises

Dinner
Soup and a protein shake

Snacks/Supplements
Two liters of water, protein bars, dark chocolate as well as omega-3, 6 and 9 supplements
