Jessica Alba’s Diet and Workout

In this recent shoot for GQ, Jessica Alba appears to be in top form as she gears up for the filming of Sin City 2 this summer. Her diet secret is “portion control” says her trainer in the latest issue of In Touch weekly, and “she knows how to keep her eating habits under control.” “She likes to have dinner out, but will only eat half of the food on the plate.”

In addition to a balanced diet, Jessica also watches her carbs, leaving bread and desserts off the menu. But she doesn’t deprive herself when she gets a particular craving “You need to indulge and have that chocolate cake whenever you feel the need.”

Jessica Alba’s Diet Plan
It’s a South Beach style diet, with lean meats, whole grains, low-fat cheeses, fruits and veggies.

  • Breakfast
    1 cup oatmeal with berries with 3-4 scrambled egg whites when working on the film set.
  • Lunch
    Salad with 170 gms (6 ounces) of chicken breast or fish (salmon, tuna)
  • Dinner
    Sashimi or or 170 gms (6 ounces) of petit filet of beef or other lean protein with unlimited veggies and 3 small red potatoes
  • Snacks
    handful of almonds or hot air popped popcorn

Jessica Alba’s Work Out
Jessica’s is big on exercise with lots of cardio on the elliptical, stationary bike or treadmill for 30 minutes four times a week. She adds resistant-training including weights and yoga to tone up for her action roles in films.

    Well sam, I have to say eating 5-800 calories a day is insane! That’s not healthy. Jess doesent starve herself to look like that and almost everyone in her family is overweight (genes play no role), so if you wanted to look like her you need to eat more, girl! If you’re not eating enough calories, your body doesent get enough nutrients or proteins it needs to build lean, sexy muscle. I recommend 1200-1250 at the LEAST. It’s not about dieting, start living a healthy lifestyle, with whole grains, lean meats, loads of fruits and veggies and lots of water! (Drink lots of water per day! It’s helps with fat loss and flushes your body of toxins) With a healthy diet and cardio/weight training program, your abs will look hot in no time! =)) Hope I helped!

    Sam, you’re putting your body in starvation mode. A woman’s body needs at least 1200 calories to function. Starting eating more and make sure that you eat at least every 4 hours to keep your metabolism going. Also, remember, that you CANNOT build muscle when working at a calorie deficit.

    lol, we’re all so nosey! The comments I’ve been reading above are some of the most amusing and chin-dropping I’ve ever read. The way this diet works… you are NOT starving yourself! And YES, you ARE eating carbs! The combination of foods isn’t meant to STARVE you… your mind is the only thing that makes you ‘believe’ your starving yourself because you’re not used to eating insanely healthy. These combinations of foods is designed to help fill you up so your not hungry, and when you eat…. all the carbs cancel each other out… so your body is taking it in, letting it go.. and feeding off of your….. FAT! You can’t say that going on this diet is depriving you of energy. In layman’s terms, that’s all fat is….. STORED ENERGY…. duh! So if I were you, I would be completely confident in trying this out.. especially if you’re looking to lose it fast to fit in that “..itzy bitzy teenie weenie yellow polka dot bikini..” In the end, this diet is for weight loss FAST! And I think it has potential for ANYONE! If/when you can’t take it anymore… keep in mind that you still need to eat healthy! It will keep you looking sexy, and preserve your health when you get older :)

    keep in mind that first when you begin any kind of diet, even though your body is getting its nutrients… you may not be eating as much ‘quantity’ that you used to. believe it or not… your stomach actually can change size! Therefore, being on a diet for a certain amount of time… you WILL feel full after eating only a little bit… or certain amounts, because your stomach has shrunk. Have you ever been on a diet, then got sick of it and went crazy one day and got full really fast? point proven :-D tough it out!!! you can do it!

    Sam.. I have a proposition for you and your “pooch”. certain crunches, as well as cardio exercises ONLY work your upper abdominals… your pooch has abdominal muscles underneath it too, but really hard to mold into lean/TONE muscle! Have you ever tried these?

    Solution: “Flutter Kicks”
    step 1- lie supine (on your back) on the floor/ground, placing both hands flat uderneath your lower back/butt, palms to the ground (this helps with support for your back as well as your lower abdominals).
    step 2- hold both legs up approximately 6″ from the ground, being sure to keep your entire leg straight (lock your knees).
    ***Before actually performing the flutter kicks themselves, try simply holding that position position first… and see how long you can stay like that…. I’m sure after a while you’ll feel your pooch starting to hurt!***

    step 3: “flutter” your legs (like your swimming, one at a time) still keeping your knees straight; begin at the 6 inches, and raise each leg one at a time from 6 inches to 12 inches.. never let your feet hit the floor!
    ***Do as many as you can, but keep it consistant! I would do them every day***

    NOTE: here in the USAF, we do 20 reps…. counting like so… “1-2-3….1 1-2-3…..2 1-2-3…..3″ and so on

    (I’m talking too much…BUT)

    Also, Try eating boiled egg whites (ONLY)… maybe 2-3 in the morning for breakfast with one of those V-8 veggie juice shots…. those egg whites are PURE protein… I’m sure it will help you out!

    Wow! There is so much false information flying around on here. First of all, to say genetics play no role is ABSURD! Genetics are 90% of how your body is going to look. She may claim her family is overweight, but if you’ve ever seen pictures of her with her mother and brother, Josh, they share the same body type. I’m sure she also works extremely hard to keep her body in shape and is very disciplined with her diet. Your body does need at least 1200 calories a day to keep functioning properly, and if you drop too far below that, your body will start storing fat because it goes into survival mode. As far as your abs go, you can do all the crunches you want, but unless you get rid of the subcutaneous fat on your belly, your midsection will only look BIGGER. I’m not saying there is anything wrong with ab work; it’s very important to help with your posture and for all types of activities…ie running, cycling…but your diet is the most critical part in losing fat (and your pooch). To find out how many calories you should be taking in to lose weight, you should find your BMR (Basal Metabolic Rate)…you can go to http://www.bmi-calculator.net to find this. That’s the amount of calories your body needs to sustain you. You should also aim to do about 30 minutes of cardio on most days of the week to keep your heart in shape and burn some extra calories. Strength training should be done 2-3 times a week to build muscle, strengthen joints, increase bone density, and because it fires up your metabolism! You burn more calories for longer after strength training than just cardio, plus the extra muscle you’re building will increase calorie burn even more. I don’t think the diet recomended on here is too bad, but I can tell you that to look as great as Jessica does, there is a lot more work being done than what this site claims. Everyone can lose weight and tone up though with some commitment!

    hi i’m sarah since i was 11 ive been controlling my food portions i wouid only have one small meal a day i was nearly underweight but thanks to my mum and jessica albas food and exercise routine that i have been following since i was 13 i have a tight flat stomach that my friends eny about, curves and a thin figure i even look like her a bit we have the same eyes and hair colour and i have the same haircut and hair lenghth and the same long face and tallness i’m now 14 i’ve been following her regieme for a year hey i know if you guys need help on weight loss just reply to this message!!

    well “sarah” im glad you are so happy and secure with yourself. Thats absolutely fantastic and it really must be a great feeling. Tho i must say since you were 11 is a little insane. you were still a kid and probably perfect the way you were. You are still very young so its easier for you to e in shape. Def keep up the activity because its good for you and will keep you in shape as you grow older but take that into account before you offer help to people in very different situations.

    As far as Miss Alba i think she looks great. I would kill to look like that and i admire her dedication to it. But seriously some of us shouldn’t be so critical, isn’t she the one who should decide? I think she should do whatever it takes to be happy, and if having a very strict diet makes her happy then go for it.

    i know it sounds insane kay i’ll tell you something i had a phobia of food when i was 11 i was scared of it i wouid just look at the food if i tried to it i wouid have a tantrum because i couidn’t eat it anyway i’m going to be 15 in 2 days and i will continue with my exercise i only want to give advice to people because i sometimes feel the urge to cry when i see underweight and overweight people when i see that i remember the painful past.

    hi it’s sarah,eli i’m going to tell you the secret of how i control my food portion when your eating always have a drink in your hand(water or juice) this way you will drink more and eat less, that way youll be full up from water instead of the food and now your carbs if you want bread always have the wholegrain one just try this technique and tell me if it works .

    hey sarah my name is ali i’m 17 and i have so much trouble with food my weight yo-yos i can lose and gain between 3-5 kilos a week which is crazy. im usually about 57 kilos and at 165cm thats healthy for my height. but if i wnt to lose weight ill be at 52 or 53 if im going out or want to look good but the thing is i cant maintain that or lose more i end up bingeing and putting all the weight back on. i used to be 48 kilos and i want to get to 48-50 kilos help! xx

    dont worry Ali you’ll be able to get to the size you want in less than a month now follow these giudlines i’m going to give you very carefully ok? everyday in the morning and night before bed i want you to do 35 sit ups and 2 push ups. during the day exercise: lie flat on your stomach with your hands out in front of you then slowly lift your leg up(squeezing your buttocks as you do that) as high as you can hold it for about 4-5 seconds then slowly lower it repeat this ten times with each leg this exercise will firm and flatten your thighs and buttocks. my next exercise will tone and flatten your stomach lie on one side of your body using your elbow to prop your head up and your other hand on the ground opposite your hip for balance lift you leg up high in the air( again slowly) and hold it for 5 seconds repeat it 10 times with each leg. and lastly do 10 lunges or more if you can. if you feel any pain stop and take a rest. now for breakfast you can have oatmeal or fruit and fibre cornflakes or fruit. lunch you can have a salad with tuna or chicken and fruit or you can have boiled potatoes with a bit of salt for flavour and lastly dinner can either be macoroni and cheese or grilled chicken and boiled pottoes?boiled veg. or if you are eating out use my technique have a drink in your hand water or juice this way you’ll be full up from your drink instead of the food. i hope this will work get started right away and tell me if it works this is mainly what i do as well to stay in my shape.

    thats alright ali i haven’t checked in for a long time as well! remmenber if u feel the exercises hard stop and rest straight away. to tell u the truth i have just recovered from the flu that i caught when i was in france i just came back 6 days ago and i lost 3 kilos but now i’m back to my regular weight having the flu really messes up your diet i didnt eat for a week i lived on apples and water my mum was really worried about me loosing to much wieght when i catch something. i really hope you do well i can just imagine you now in a sassy body! no kid

    her body is ammmmazziiing. Legs fat? U need help person who said that, u start thinking things like that and ur on an unhealthy path to anorexia.

    I have eaten a diet like her before, it was dangerous for me cos I am thin anyway, my weight went down to 44kg and I’m 5′9. You need to eat carbs- good carbs like bread, potatoes, rice….if u don’t, u might lose a lot of weight cos ur body has to use energy from the other foods you eat, like protein and fibre, leaving ur body virtually starving. You’re doing a lot of damage to ur kidneys etc. if u stick at this for long.

    Just a balanced diet is the way forward…and u can stick to it!

    just to inform anyone who tries the low carb high protein diet: i tried it and u know what! it gave me gas. seriously, yeah eww. & really bad bloating. U gotta have some good carbs w/ your protein. It’s what u do with those carbs that matters. i eat healthy & workout abt. 6 times a week, so i eat carbs! doing abs a lot really gets rid of your stomach fat too! swimming & running is good!

    I have a lot of respect for Jessica Alba because she is consistent with the work for her body. I think she is beautiful not only because of her body but because of her countenance and independence within that gives her a unique aura that adds to her beauty.

    I really think Jessica is beautiful. I would like a body like this no doubt, but im the type that would like a little more of an hourglass figure, like jessica biel, i think she has the best body. But JA has to work extremely hard. I workout a lot, and eat very healthy, and i dont look like this. It kinda makes me think she might have a eating disorder, but i really dont know. Plus, to those people who said her legs and hips have fat.. .NO THEY DO NOT, complete bs. but anyways, keep up the good work jessica!

    She is absolutely gorgeous and not fat at all and this is coming from a recovered anorexic who was once very critical! To the uneducated person who said she comes from an overweight family… just what is that supposed to mean anyway? As far as I know her mom is, but it is not fair to say everyone in her family is…. and whose to say her mom wouldn’t be just as fit and toned as she is had she had the same recources ( personal trainer, nutritionist…ect). From what I have seen, you do not have to have bad/ big-boned whatever genes in your family to be overweight. I know MANY girls who would be naturally small but end up having kids and giving up or just plain don’t eat right or exercise. Just because someone is overweight in your family doesn’t mean you are going to be if you take care of yourself. JA isn’t the the only celebrity who has an overweight person on her family…. Halle Berry’s mom is overweight, so is Tyra Banks, and many others. And JA may not even take after her mom, she may take after her dad or an aunt… genes vary. Give the girl a break, she is one of few ridiculously gorgeous female celebs out there that hasn’t publicly humiliated herself (like Paris, Lindsey…and the list goes on and on)… she is always poised, and she works damn hard for her body, so she deserves props!

    I need to lose about 10-15 lbs fast.. I work out about 5 times a week.. sometimes less when I’m feeling lazy. but the problem is my diet. I hate sticking to one breakfast, one lunch, and one dinner day after day. I like change. I used to have an eating disorder and when I started eating again, my metabolism went all out of wack and I gained about 30 lbs FAST. I’ve lost most of it but I now it’s just staying the same and I’m having trouble losing the last 10-15ish.. the only way I know how to lose weight is the unhealthy way. any advice??

    Well Kelly, there is many things that you can eat, it just has to be healthy. If you work-out and eat right I don’t see why you can’t lose the weight you want to. But on the other hand I want to lose about 10 lbs myself, and I have a hard time too. I just have trouble sticking to the plan. But if you have more will power than I do I dont see why you wouldn’t be able to lose the weight you want to. I say just stick to eating healthy, which doesn’t only consist of one type of food, and keep working out that body and you should have no problem. Good Luck! I’m sorry if I couldn’t really help you, but when I try to lose weight it is always not eating like I’m suppose to and I’m not going to tell anybody to do that! But good luck, I hope it works out for you!

    To me jessica alba is a very gorgeous woman but she is thin the only reason why she got really thin nowadays is because she wanted a child so she got thin and later on she’ll gain weight which she did, and she still looks fabulous but the, in the movie into the blue, there she had the right curves and legs everything. I hope she returns to her weight when she was in the movie into the blue. take care

    Since we are young we should eat healthy you can eat small hand portions 5 times a day. you dont need to stick to one dinner,breakfast and lunch. If you dont eat healthy and exercise enough now when your young and active. When your older ie. 35 or 40. you’ll be fat. this is why your parents say you ahve to eat and be healthy plus not eating is not going to do anything its just going to make your stomach contract ( get smaller ) because its now used to eating small portions. anyways not eating properly and being so worried about your weight is no use. you live in a country where you can do anything you want. Buy a bike for god’s sake we didnt make these man–made things for nothing. Stop worrying and start doing dont worry about how much you eat as long as you exercise but becareful what you eat. i think you get the picture i hope this helped take care people and start thinking positive its the only way in life that can help you achieve your goals. but i know its hard not to think negatively. but just practice and you’ll be happy in life =) smile everyday even when your mad make your friends cheer you up even get hyper with each other. lol take care guys keep your head up high and do what you want .
