Jessica Simpson Doesn’t Diet

Over the past couple of weeks Jessica Simpson has been on the talk show circuit promoting her new reality show, The Price of Beauty. It’s amazing to see this new attitude she has where she speaks confidently on issues about weight, body perception, men, romance and all of those other scandals of which the poor girl is a victim. This week, Jessica told Barbara Walters that she’s done obsessing about weight and she’s no longer going on diets. She explained,
“I don’t diet. I used to count calories. I watch what I eat, but I also let myself indulge.”
She claims that she is now a size 4 and even though she could probably lose a little more weight and still be healthy she doesn’t consider it a priority because she’s not a model but an actress and singer. She said,
“I think people are looking at what models look like. I am not a model. I am 5-foot-3. I don’t look like a model. That is not my profession.”
She did have some good insight on this global obsession with women and weight loss. She explained that when it comes to men, they like curves, they like something to hold on to. But when it comes to women, women are trying to lose weight and look skinny to impress other women, and not necessarily men. It’s as if women are still acting like 16 year olds battling it out to be prom queen.

There’s an interesting post over at the Health Journal Club that makes the case that people should just not eat anything that wasn’t a food 100 years ago. Gets rid of the aspartame, bleached GM flour, high fructose corn syrup garbage they try to pass off as food these days. If interested you can read on it here,
