Jillian Michaels’ Secret to Weight Loss
In the January issue of Ladies Home Journal, Biggest Loser trainer Jillian Michaels talks about her struggles as an overweight child and how these days her passion isn’t just about fitness but it’s helping people improve their lives. She said that as a teenager she only ate junk food and because of her lack of direction she rebelled; she even stole a car once. Also, her relationship with her father revolved around food so when they were alone that was their time to eat together.
It’s obvious she no longer has junk food issues. She has a successful career changing the lives of those who have severe weight problems. She explained that she uses fitness as her tool to change lives. Just as a carpenter has a tool box to build something, her ‘tool’ is exercise in order to live a fulfilled life. She explained,
“When someone feels strong physically they feel strong in every aspect of their existence. If they have endurance and achieve in the gym, then I can redefine their entire self image. I can wipe away years of negativity.”
When it comes to Jillian’s techniques she tries to override the contestants’ negativity with fear. By boasting a rough exterior she intimidates them to become successful. She thinks she ‘programs’ them for success.
