Kate Winslet Sues Over Weight Image Slander

Kate Winslet has been a long time role model for women everywhere who don’t fit into Hollywood’s traditional ideal body, and now she’s ready to sue a UK based tabloid for claiming that she lies about her fitness habits. The Daily Mail wrote an article titled, Should Kate Winslet Win an Oscar for the World’s Most Irritating Actress? which questioned one of Winslet’s quotes from an interview with Elle magazine where she said,
“I don’t go to the gym because I don’t have time, but I do Pilates workout DVDs for 20 minutes or more every day at home.”
The writer of the article, Liz Jones, then went on to say that Winslet had succumbed to Hollywood pressure to slim down and,
“has become, in my opinion, as drippy and as impossibly vain as the rest of them. She caught a nasty dose of Hollywooditis. It happens to the best of them, of course it does,” wrote Jones. “It is the duplicitousness that enrages me and most other women I have spoken to.”
At this point, the tabloid has refused Winslet’s request to not reprint their claims.
