Lady Gaga is into Bikram Yoga

by Alice on November 17, 2010

Lady Gaga has been seen going to several yoga centers in the last few months, while on tour. Just last week she was spotted entering a yoga center in London. She’s actually practicing a special kind of yoga called Bikram, where sessions are done in rooms heated up to 105°F temperature. That’s why it’s also known as “hot yoga”.

Bikram yoga became popular back in the early seventies and it’s based on traditional yoga techniques. A session takes about 90 minutes and includes series of 26 postures and two breathing exercises.

This type of yoga is a bit controversial because of the high temperature of the rooms in which the sessions take place. But then again, so is Lady Gaga.  The 24-year-old singer started practicing Bikram yoga in New York six years ago and has made it part of her workout routine ever since.

After she attended a Bikram yoga class in the Lower East Side, she was so happy with it that before leaving she wrote a thank you note to her instruction Tricia Donegan.

“Thank you so much for today. Lately I’ve been kicking ass in yoga, but I’m excited to embark on an even deeper journey with you,” she wrote. “You are such an inspiration. I will be back soon. W more hydration + sleep. Yoga heals me + so do you.”
