In the upcoming issue of Love Magazine, pop singer Lily Allen reveals that she suffers from body dysmorphia, an anxiety disorder that makes her think she is grotesquely overweight. She said,
“It’s body dysmorphia. I think look like Michelle McManus [pop idol winner 2003].”
Even those these days the 24-year-old is slim she has had times when she’s a bit on the chubby side and it’s been the pressure of working in the music industry that has made her fall victim to this disorder. She told the magazine that when she’s done photo shoots for brands that she’s been told to have a cigarette instead of eat. She also said that the only reason she’s been asked to model for campaigns such as Chanel is because she lost the weight and if it weren’t for that she never would have gotten those modeling gigs. She said,
“Compare me to Kate Moss and all of those supermodels and, yes, I probably am on the podgy side. But in reality I’m fine.”
Most recently, she has put on some weight because of the steroid injections she took for laryngitis but Allen is happy with who she is and is learning to deal with her dysmorphia issues.
