Maria Menounos: Workout
Can you believe Maria Menounos used to be a size 14?! The Greek-born actress, who is a correspondent for The Today Show and Access Hollywood, dropped to a size 4 about 9 years ago. She revealed to Fitness magazine just how she keeps the weight off.
Menounos started studying the Israeli martial art Krav Maga last year when she was preparing to go to Iraq.
‘I wanted to be able to defend myself if I needed to, God forbid,’ she told Fitness. ‘But what I found was that it’s the best overall workout I’ve ever experienced. It’s cardio. It’s strength. It’s reflexes. It’s everything.’
In the video above, she recreates some of her fighting fit moves, which are essentially self defense focused, but because you have to use your entire body to defend yourself there’s quite a big fitness component to them. To really give your muscles a good workout, repeat the routine 3 times a week with at least 4 cardio routines of about one hour.
Menounos also stays in shape by running on the treadmill, playing basketball and working out with her trainer. The Greek beauty balances her diet with chicken and tuna wraps (because of her busy schedule) and even a few slices of pizza now and then.
‘If I indulge, though, I’ll balance things out by switching to salad and fruit for the next meal.’
