Marissa Jaret Winokur: A Mother’s Workout

Marissa Jaret Winokur has now entered week four in her quest to lose weight for her upcoming bikini photo shoot with People Magazine.  She’s making some progress and is doing lots of exercise on the treadmill as well as toting her son around which she compares to a Biggest Loser style workout.  She described in her blog the treadmill workout she does while son Zev is taking a nap.
“Thankfully, I have a TV in the room with TiVo so I wasn’t bored. I first watched Dance Your Ass Off (yes, a shameless plug!) and I ran as fast as I could while they danced. I used to do this with Dancing with the Stars and The Biggest Loser. It works great – the music takes my mind off of how boring the treadmill can be!”
She continues,
“I ran my fastest mile – I was so proud of myself! I don’t know what is considered fast but I was running at 6.0 and 7.0 and finished a mile in just under 10 min. (9 min. and 50 sec.) and that seemed really fast to me!”
Marissa also mentioned that she has learned to go to free online sites with calorie counters where you can plug in your food through out the day and get a total calorie count each evening.  This is a great way to stay on track and it definitely keeps you honest as it helps you spot strengths and weaknesses in your diet patterns.  And what about Marissa’s Biggest Loser workout?  Here’s what she had to say,
“And I was still able to work Zev into my workout day and my friend joined me! I put both of our kids in a wagon and pulled the 50 lbs. of baby around with us through the neighborhood. It was like a Biggest Loser challenge but a lot of fun working out with a friend and our sons!”
