The Little Britain and Little Britain USA comedian Matt Lucas has been ordered to lose weight. After a visit to the doctor last year where he was told he was at risk of getting diabetes he realized it was time to lose the pounds. He told Heat magazine,
“My doctor said that my health was at risk. I didn’t want my health to be in danger. My dad died at 56. So I thought I needed to sort it out and take responsibility.”
Last spring he weighed almost 200 pounds and with his 5ft 6 frame that is a considerable amount of weight. He’s already lost well over 50 pounds and it looking much healthier. To lose the weight he dropped his daily caloric intake down to 1,500 and he also became a member of a gym and now works out with a personal trainer. He said,
“It’s hard, but it does get the endorphins going and I do get a tremendous sense of achievement as I lie there in pain. My trainer is a really nice, eccentric lady, and while we train we have really interesting conversations.”
The 35-year-old is a brilliant comedian so even if we have to say goodbye to some of his obese characters on the show such as Majorie Dawes or Andy Pipkin, it’s good to know he’ll be around a bit longer to make people laugh and put smiles on faces.

Mr. Lucas
I am so happy that you are taking care of your health. I was afraid that something really bad was going to happen to you – because you were really big. However you did look good and you keep me in stitches. You and Mr. David Williams are the best in what you do and your acts have saved my life. You guys are number one and I love you so much. Continue to be yourself and give this sad old world some really great laughs. We love you !
