Megan Fox’s latest comment that drinking vinegar will help you lose weight has been slammed by dieticians and health experts across the country, some even calling the 23-year-old actress irresponsible.
The Transformers beauty has been quoted in the media lately endorsing a diet that includes a few shots of vinegar that supposedly detoxes your system. British newspapers have been quoted her as saying: “It will get rid of, for women who retain water weight from your menstrual cycle and all that, it gets rid of it really fast.”
“As attractive as it sounds, there is no magic pill, lotion or potion for a quick fix to weight loss,” Lucy Jones, a London-based dietician, told 9News. “The body, including the liver, is a well-oiled detoxing machine, which will not be improved by vinegar, whether it be organic, apple cider, unfiltered, or your bog-standard malt vinegar.”
Celeb Diet Doc…
Believe it or not, Megan may actually be right. A study in Japan, suggests that apple cider vinegar may indeed help with weight loss. But don’t expect miracles. Three tablespoons of vinegar taken once a day for 12 weeks resulted in 1-2 kgs of weight loss vs placebo control. Vinegar appears to work at the genetic level inhibiting fat cell growth leading to reductions in body fat including belly fat.
So some vinegar with your salad will boost your fat burning. Vinegar with donuts and ho ho’s not so much….
