Melissa Joan Hart Post Baby Diet and Weight Loss

Melissa Joan Hart gained 40 pounds during her pregnancy to son, Brady. With a sensible diet plan she used her “Sabrina the Teenage Witch” superpowers to shed all but five pounds of her post baby weight. How did she do it?

Melissa Joan Hart Post Baby Diet
Her diet rules are: no refined sugars, no white starches, and protein with every meal. As far as sticking to her plan she admits that

“I’m really disciplined in the morning. Lunch gets a little harder for me, then dinner’s when I get a little out of hand.” After a long day she says I’m tired and I’m just like “I want food.”‘

She does indulge in ice cream, chips and guacamole. Melissa reveals she is five pounds from her pre-pregnancy weight and her goal is to drop another 10 over the course of the year.

Her Fitness plan
She works out 3 days a week with a trainer (she started this four weeks post birth, after getting the OK from her OB/GYN physician). Her workouts include 30 minutes of spinning and 30 minutes of floor exercises.

She says her secret to juggling 2 kids and a successful marriage to hubby, Mark, is that “after 8 pm is mommy and daddy time. We enjoy each other. There’s nothing we can get from someone else that we can’t get from each other. As long as we keep our communication open, we can easily work out any problem.”

Celeb Diet Doc….
Melissa’s done a great job getting back in shape. When she talks about “I just want food” she may be missing out on snacks which would help curb her cravings during the course of the day. Basically she needs to eat more of the right foods during the day so she doesn’t “fall off the wagon” with late night binge eating. The ice cream and chips are potential diet busters if she does not practice strict portion control.

Women should exercise while they are pregnant to reduce labor time. Just check with the doctor. My sister-in-law took my advice, and her doc said it was ok. Would you believe she had her son in 45 minutes upon arriving to the hospital? No complications, no health issues.

Simply because one person’s labor was short doesn’t mean anyone else’s will be either. I exercised all throughout pregnancy (with OB’s permission of course) and my labor took 17 hours and I still gained 50 lbs. I lost 15 lbs during the first trimester due to constant morning sickness all throughout the day, so my weight gain was not anything to worry about.

The point is that what works for one person may not work for another, but making healthy choices during and after pregnancy will make things easier. Since giving birth, my biggest problem has been the self motivation to exercise and I haven’t lost the baby weight. But that’s something I know, and need to fix about myself. The diet choices made in the article are very common for women who just gave birth and I think are very appropriate.

I am glad to hear that she did not feel pressured to be back to her pre-pregnancy weight only weeks or months since the birth of her child. She is a great example to regular women searching for weight lose answers after their own births, and although the doctor had some suggestions regarding her desire to binge eat in the evenings (my problem as well!), she still has been able to reach her goals in a very healthy manner. It is women like her who I would love to see more of!

It does depend on a woman’s health as well if she encounters any unexpected complications, such as gestational diabetes. But in general a healthy woman who does abdominal exercise during her pregnancy will shorten her labor time. It’s not a myth. A number of nutritional professors agree as well as Webmd.
