
Mya, the Grammy-winning R&B singer is on the upcoming season of Dancing With The Stars. She recently told US Magazine that she lost 11 pounds in two months while dancing in rehearsals. She said,
“I was 138 before I started dancing, then with pre-training with cardio, I came down to 132,”
She compared prepping for DWTS to boot camp where one has to rest, eat properly and focus in order to keep up. This season the producers are only allowing the dance couples to rehearse up to five hours a day because of injuries in the past season. For example, Jewel and Nancy O’Dell had to leave the competition early because they over did it while rehearsing. But still, five hours is a lot of dancing which explains why Mya has lost weight so quickly. She also said that she became a vegetarian two months ago but she is being careful not to deprive herself in order to keep up with the five hour workouts. She said,
“My weight may change after I stuff my face!” she jokes. “My weakness is the pasta and the rice!”
DWTS premieres on September 21 and Mya will be dancing with Dmitry Chaplin.
