Obama Family Workout (includes Wii Fit)

by Betsy on Celebs on May 26, 2010

In previous interviews with the President and the First Lady we’ve learned that the Obamas like to stay in shape. The President works outs regularly in his gym and Michelle Obama is up at the crack of dawn to workout with her trainer. In addition, she is making great strides in her Let’s Move campaign which encourages children and families to exercise. Most recently while she was at a school in Maryland she told a class of 2nd-graders that her daughters Malia and Sasha like to do Wii Fit as well as other activities. She told the students,

“One plays soccer, one plays basketball, the both play tennis. They go to the gym on a regular basis. They ride their bikes.”

Mrs. Obama is even influencing other world leaders to take exercise seriously. While the President of Mexico and First Lady Margarita Zavala (pictured above) were visiting Washington DC, Obama took Zavala to a local 2nd-grade class and they participated in a Physical Education class with the children. When the teacher asked if anyone was breathing heavily, Obama responded in reference to her next visit,

“Maybe I can wear jeans and sneakers.”

What an inspiration!
