Ozzy Osbourne’s Workout Obsession and Fear of Being Overweight

by Shannon on July 5, 2010

Sixty One year old rock star, Ozzy Osbourne is afraid of becoming overweight, which causes him to obsess over working out.  It might be an absurd fear since he has been slim nearly his entire life, only gaining weight one time when he first tried to slowly ween himself off of drugs.  That one time was in the 1980s and he has remained slim ever since then.

Nonetheless, he remembers that feeling of feeling fat and has made a vow never to feel that way again.  He probably even exercises more than he needs to in order to ensure that he keeps his vow.

“I’m addicted to exercise since I hate feeling overweight,” he has said.

However, even all that working out has not stopped the singer from enjoying pretty much whatever he wants to eat. Among his favorite junk foods is black licorice.  He has been known by family and friends to consume black licorice whenever he can.

“I love black licorice! I love it,” he said.

Almost everyone in Ozzy’s family has had to publicly deal with their weight struggles.  This includes his wife, Sharon, and his children Kelly and Jack. It  makes one wonder if Ozzy has an unhealthy obsession with weight gain and if it is affecting his family? Or is it more a product of societal values?  After all, Kelly has said that she got more flack for being fat than for being a drug addict.
