Portion Control on a Plate

Here’s portion control that comes on a plate. In a study published in the Archives of Internal Medicine, obese diabetics who used a portion control plate and bowl for six months lost an average of 1.8 % of their body weight, while 17 % lost at least 5% of their body weight. The use of diabetes medications was also reduced by 26%.
The plates are divided into carbs, proteins, veggies, cheese and sauce sections. Each plate holds about 700 calories for men and 650 calories for women. The bowl allows for a 200 calorie serving of cereal and milk.
The veggie section looks way too small on this plate. There’s no sense to doing portion control on low-cal veggies which fill you up on minimal calories. Otherwise it’s a neat idea that can help you lose weight, provided you don’t reach for seconds!
