The inside skinny... on Rachel Ray Weight Gain

Rachel Ray Weight Gain

rachel-ray-weight.jpg

Rachel Ray is front page news on the National Enquirer (admittedly not the most reputable source of breaking news) for reportedly gaining 23 lbs. For anyone who has seen her show on the Food Network, this should come as no surprise. Those fat and carb-laden comfort foods were bound to catch up with her.

According to her “pal,” “Rachael’s probably pigging out on her favorites – macroni and cheese heaped with Italian sausage, creamy butter-rich sauces and gourmet with sugary toppings. She’s eating gooey cheese snacks, pasta and bagels at all hours. She says her favorite midnight snack is egg-and-bacon-laden spaghetti carbonara.”

Add to this her views on diet and exercise:

“Rachael’s weight gain is compounded by her lack of interest in watching what she eats and staying active, says the insider. She’s repeatedly denounced dieting and exercising in interviews, saying: “I eat pasta and bread and do all the things you’re not supposed to… I never make it to the gym.”

The photos look a little on the “photo shopped” side to me.  In any event, this could be an “Oprah moment,” where we see her develop some healthy eating and lifestyle habits.  I wouldn’t be surprised to see her enlist the services of Oprah’s trainer Bob Greene, for a weight-loss “house call.”

Dear Rachel, my daughter Tia adores you, and I call little Rachel Ray eventhough she is bigger than you. She loves to mix and match her food. I ran across a comment that states that you will be a spokes person for Dunkins Donuts. My daughter is overweight, and I am encouraging her to eat heathier. If at all possible, please reconsider the Dunkins Donut offer. We want to be healthier people, although this may offer you more money, our kids are having health issues like adults. Take care!

Haha. Andrea Citizen, are you kidding me?! Your daughter’s a little chunk of fat, so because she likes Rachel Ray, it’s going to be Rachel Ray’s fault for when she gains even more weight, not due to the Dunkin Donuts ads, but because you as a parent took her there and bought them for her? Idiots like you make me laugh. Dunkin Donuts, McDonald’s, and KFC are always going to be around. You need to be responsible and not raise your kid on them. I suppose you’ll be one of those nasty little porkers sueing a huge chain for millions of dollars because THEY made YOUR DAUGHTER fat, right? Not you, right?

To Whitney. How dare you insult someone you don’t even know! You are not a very classy human being; in fact you are the very reason why overweight people have such a hard time in society. Personally I think you were deprived as a child. Never have I witnessed such lack of decency. Maybe you just need a hug. To Andrea, I think you are a wonderful mother. My advice is to simply ignore people like this Whitney, because if she knew you, she’d see that you are a gift to Tia.

I just saw Rachel’s show today and I look exactly the same size as she does. The problem here is I’m a size 13. Look around her middle and her thigh areas. I mean I love her, but come on with the lies already! I agree she uses tons of carbs in her recipes. How can she maintain a size six at that rate? Not possible. I’d be willing to bet she’s at least a size 12 or 13.

Yup, whitney’s right. Ppl who r fat always find some way to attribute their obesity to oustide factors, never connecting their obesity to the fact that they have control over what they shovel into their mouth. It’s called working out. If u have a fat kid, frickin stop feeding them. U need to change their entire lifestyle. Sign them up for some sports & get them to be active. Ppl say “it’s soo hard being obese…i look at myself in the mirror and i hate what i see.” thats seriously retarded. Do they even know what they’re doing to themselves by eating so much? How many diseases begin with obesity? To all the morbidly obese ppl in the world: “Stop consuming so much of the planet’s resources, start exercising lightly, (i.e. walking) & you will begin to love who stands before u in the mirror ok!”

Hey, it’s not easy eating right and shedding pounds but it can be done–if you have any character or discipline. I dropped 35 pounds and now look and feel much better. There’s no magic pill or silly break-through device like in those dumb late night informercials. Just stop feeling sorry for yourself cause you’re fat, stop stuffing your face with crap and go work-out. That’s it.

I think Rachael Ray needs to start cooking a little lighter on her shows and write another cook book for 3o minute lite meals! I wouldn’t eat most of the stuff she cooks because it just has too much fat in it, but at the end of each show she is stuffing it in her mouth…it seems every time I see her she is bigger….when I first saw her on her afternoon show, the Rachael Ray show, I couldn’t believe how much weight she put on….I watch her 30 minute meal shows and some of them are from 2005, she is alot thinner, I hope she gets a handle on it so she can be healthier.

Yeah, she’s definitely gained weight, but those pics are obviously photoshopped.
As for the whole, her being a “size 6″ thing, she is not entirely lying. She probably buys from a different clothing company. Take me for example, my jeans say anywhere from size 6-10. But even at my biggest I’m only a size 10, she probably buys from a very strange company.
That said, she’s a lot hotter with the extra pounds.

You are a heartless, judgemental individual. It’s people like you and their scorn that create children with eating disorders. Get over yourself. And by the way, I think Rachael always looked terrific. More women look like her than the Calista Flockharts of the world. Thin does not always equal healthy. In my profession I see this every day.

You are so ignorant it’s sad. Do some research before spewing the misinformation that abounds out there. You think being thin will make you love yourself and be happy to look in a mirror? Obviously you don’t know anyone with anorexia. They watch everything they put in their mouths and are dying because of it.

You are just as ignorant as the other two posters I responded to. How does it feel to know all the answers? Wow! Maybe we should award the next Nobel Peace prize to you.

The truth hurts, doesn’t it? You think it’s fun running two miles every other day and almost puking? Y0u think it’s fun not eating pizza and burgers? It’s not fun at all, but you have to sacrifice. Next time you go into a grocery store go into the area with leafy green things. They’re called vegetables. Try that for a while and work out. See what happens. Ever seen a fat Marine? I didn’t think so. Fat people are that way because they want to be. Get off your lazy backside and do something about it. Don’t expect me to feel sorry for you cause your fat.

You can’t find nutritional information on Rachel Ray’s recipes. I bet the calorie count is pretty high. I would like to have some idea of the sodium, fat, etc. in her recipes.

You honestly think people are fat because they want to be? MY best friend has hypo-thyrodism and has became anorexic because people like you tell her it’s her own damn fault for shoving her face, well guess what, she’s still overweight, you know what else? She’s the most beautiful person I’ve ever seen, and I admire her inside and out. She has a wonderful boyfriend (skinny punk boy so you can’t say only fat people like fat people)
get a life and stop bashing other people because you’re upset with yourself.
Thank you to Pearly and the others who are spreading a positive image to children and adults alike.
    Blessed be

Oh yeah, everyone has hypothyroidism…PULEASE!…look it up, 2% of Americans are affected by hypothyroidism and 33% of Americans are OBESE!…people love to blame anything but the cause.

and your best friend is a fat anorexic with hypothyroidism?…chances of that are 1/10,000,000 (bulimics can be fat, but anorexics are almost never fat…why?, because its impossible to be fat if you dont’ eat, even if you have hypothyroidism)

lemme guess your other “best friend” is black…and your other “best friend” is gay, TOTAL BS

How to lose weight: 1 easy step

    1) watch and maintain calories

wasn’t that easy? you don’t even have to work out!

in all honesty, thats all you have to do. It’s not someone’s opinion. It’s fact. The reason why diets work so well is because it restricts the calories.

From early on in Ray’s TV career, I have been bothered by the many attempts made to downsize her with clothing design and like counter height to hide her waist.
for some reason i always blamed producers, not rachel. i thought she seemed to be a fine size.
when i watched i always had visions of Scarlett O’Hara being jammed into a girdle by Hattie McDaniel in the movie “Gone With The Wind”

In the usa you guys don’t have public health care,
so if you’re at high risk for health problems because
you’re overweight, then that’s your own business. If you rather
eat the bad stuff, and not work out knowing that its not good
for your body, well that’s your freedom. Here in Canada I don’t
think its fair for people who take care of themselfs to pay for
the health care of the irrisponsible.
