Robert Daltrey: Exercise
Robert Daltrey is 65 years old, but the lead singer of The Who has no plans on retiring. He is in great shape and still gets his doses of exercise by performing at concerts. He and Pete Townsend are the last two remaining members of the band and Daltrey still gets on stage and delivers his physically-demanding performances just as he did back in the 70s. When asked about his exercise regime he responded,
“I’m pretty lazy. I used to run and I used to do a few light weights. But what made me fit was the stage shows.”
His dance workouts are what keep him fit and he has said in the past that the early Who concerts were like intense aerobic sessions. The other two members of the band that passed, Keith Moon and John Entwistle, both died from drug-use, Moon from an overdose and Entwistle from a heart attack. But for Daltrey he knows that to sing well you have to be fit, and when drugs are involved it’s impossible to be fit. He once said,
“I did try some but singers need to be incredibly fit. I wanted to be a good singer and I could not do it with drugs inside me.”
Other stars that get their exercise through dance workouts include Britney Spears, Sabrina Bryan and Laura Harring.
