Sherri Shepherd: Diabetes & Exercise Tips
The View co-host Sherri Shepherd regained control of her life and diabetes after losing 40 pounds during 2009. She recently spoke with Fitness Magazine for their November/December issue to share her own view on diabetes in hopes of helping other sufferers take back their own lives. Here are her four tips to get diabetes sufferers motivated:
1. Find a doctor who talks tough. – Shepherd explained that her mother died of diabetes complications at the age of 41. When Shepherd turned 40 her doctor told her he didn’t know when she would have a stroke but she would definitely have one.
2. Scare yourself skinny. - Shepherd vowed to get healthy once she joined The View because diabetes made her feel as if she were in a fog. She needed clarity in order to work with the other co-hosts on the show.
3. Stop using the treadmill as a clothes hanger. – Shepherd’s trainer has her do interval training on the treadmill three times a week. Crank up the incline and get walking!
4. Focus on your assets – Shepherd said even though she hates squats she still does them because she likes her ‘new booty’ and wants to keep it.
November was American Diabetes Month.
