Susan Sarandon Opens Table Tennis Club

Oscar-winning actress Susan Sarandon is now 63 years old but that doesn’t mean she’s slowing down. Instead, she keeps fit and she’s recently opened a table tennis club, Spin New York, where people of all ages can get in a game of ping-pong. This week she told Ok! magazine that she chose table tennis because it’s a sport that anyone can play regardless of age or gender. She said,
“We have members that are really, really good that are in their 80s, and little tiny seven-year-olds that come in and kill everybody. It’s one of the few sports I can think of where girls and boys and men and women are in the same place.”
Sarandon admits that she’s not the best player but she loves the game because it’s safe, fast and a lot of fun. When asked about her dream match she suggested a match between George Clooney and Jamie Foxx because the two claim to be good players and Edward Norton is also a good player. She also mentioned that the local firefighters are starting a league at her club and she hopes to get a game with them against the police.
For the record, according to NutriStrategy a 155 pound person burns 281 calories during an hour of table tennis. It may not seem like a lot, but it’s definitely a good hobby to incorporate into a healthy lifestyle.
