Suze Orman on Health and Wealth

suze-orman-on-health-and-wealth Suze Orman, the financial guru on CNBC who has helped Americans climb out of a debt and save money, was a guest at The Biggest Loser ranch this past week. She was a big surprise for the remaining contestants as she had them take a shocking quiz to see how much money their obesity actually costs them. Statistics such as $147 billion dollars being spent on healthcare related to obesity, one-in-three children are obese, and that an obese person earns $7,000 less than a non-obese person were just a few eye-opening numbers that came up on the show.

In a separate interview between Orman and Biggest Loser trainer Jillian Michaels the two have determined that money and weight go hand in hand. Just as an obese person makes the choice to eat more food a frivolous spender makes the choice to make unnecessary purchases. Orman said,

“You can’t just look at weight as weight and money as money ……. Together as one we can teach this world to be a healthier and wealthier you.”

Previous Biggest Loser winner Tara Costa was moved by Orman’s appearance on the show and she even contacted her health insurance company to update them and let them know she is no longer obese. That’s smart thinking for when she might have a health concern in the future and she doesn’t want to be discriminated against under the assumption that she is still obese.
