Georgie Thompson Has New Fitness Website

Across the pond there’s another celebrity profiting from a fitness website; Sky Sports presenter, Georgie Thompson. She follows in the footsteps of other celebs like Jillian Michaels with loads of fitness products,  Tracy Anderson with a fitness website offering exercise tips and products to buy, as well as Gwyneth Paltrow who has a site with fashion, diet and exercise tips. Georgie teamed up with personal trainer Cat Dugdale to create a website for lazy girls who prefer cocktails to cardio, iamsuperchik.com.
The site already has approximately 10,000 members from the US, UK and Australia who each pay a monthly fee to get access to workout videos and exercises that incorporate household chores. One such exercise can be seen above where Dugdale is doing lunges while sweeping. Thompson said,
“It’s much harder during the winter to motivate yourself up off the sofa and out of the house to do any form of fitness. That’s why we devised a way for women to hibernate and get fit at the same time using our home training videos.”
This affordable and assessable website is cheaper than a gym membership and who wouldn’t want to bake a cake and get a good chest workout at the same time? A clean home means a fit woman.

Mel-B’s New Fitness Class

The former Spice Girl Mel-B isn’t leaving the stage necessarily but instead of performing in a stadium in front of thousands she plans to become a qualified fitness trainer and teach classes based on the DVD she launched in early 2009.  The 34-year-old has plans to complete a two-month course to get qualified and then she’ll start her high-energy class soon after.  A source told the Daily Mirror,
“(Brown) has never felt fitter, faster or stronger. Unlike some celebrities who endorse fad diets and daft fitness regimes, Mel is into old-fashioned sweat and tears to get results. “She’s had a few PT (personal training) sessions and decided to get qualified herself and help others achieve the perfect body.”
Mel-B is currently an ambassador for Fitness First, a UK-based gym with outlets around the world, and she is also working with industry experts to create her Totally Fit class that will be a high-octane, fast-paced class that will surely give results.

Gabrielle Reece: 30-Day Health Challenge

Model and volleyball superstar Gabrielle Reece is a contributor for Yahoo Health.  In her latest entry she has devised a 30-day health challenge that holistically targets exercise, nutrition, and lifestyle habits to reach our goals.  She claims that it’s not ‘rocket science’ but something doable and fun to do with a friend.  Thus far, she has explained how to approach Days 1-7.
Day 1: Lifestyle – Buy a planner and write down your goals for the next 30 days as well as things that need to be done.  Then mark them off once you accomplish them.
Day 2: Fitness – Wake up a little bit earlier than usual and go for a walk.  Start with 20  minutes and then add a minute each day until you’re up to 50 minutes a day.
Day 3: Diet – Measure out 70 ounces of water and drink that through out the day, not all at once.  Do this every day from here on out.
Day 4: Lifestyle – Contact a friend and ask him/her to join you in the lifestyle challenge.
Day 5: Fitness – Add stretches to your morning walk that you started back on Day 2.  Here is Gabrielle’s list of stretches:
1. rectus abdominus (core stretch)
2. child’s pose – reach arms way out front (back stretch)
3. & 4. grab toe with arm, reach over and switch legs (hamstring, lat stretch)
5. runners lunge – try to touch forearms to the ground  and switch legs (hamstring stretch)
6. runners lunge with a toe grab, or just stand up and grab quad (quad and hamstring stretch)
7. triceps stretch – goal is to bring your fingertips in between shoulder blades (triceps stretch)
8. hamstring hang – (hamstring, lower back stretch)
Day 6: Diet – Remember breakfast, it’s the most important meal of the day because it gets the metabolism going.
Day 7: Lifestyle – Take a healthy snack to work and take enough to share with colleagues.
Stay tuned to get the inside scoop on Days 8-30.

Mischa Barton: Workout

July wasn’t the best month for Mischa Barton.  After spending several days in a psychiatric ward because of suffering a breakdown she has been spotted on the set of her new TV show A Beautiful Life looking full of energy and ready to get down to business.  In addition, she has been frequenting the Equinox Gym in New York City and has hired a personal trainer.  A source told People magazine,
“Mischa is really focused on getting into shape.”
It’s possible this new fitness plan is just what the gal needs to clear her head.  The source said last month that Mischa wasn’t feeling confident about her body and this was causing a lot of stress.  And that’s completely understandable considering the pressures that celebrities get to be picture -perfect at all times.  But now that she has relocated to New York to film her new show she is focused on fitness and ready to make a change.  The source revealed,
“Mischa has been doing a lot of conditioning with weights as well as cardio on the treadmill, and some kickboxing,” says a source. “She’s been very consistent and she seems focused.”
