The Ideal Celeb Body: UK Survey

The British have voted on which celebrities’ body parts would create what they deemed the perfect body. The survey, which was conducted across the United Kingdom sampling answers by men and women, was carried out by weight loss company Proactol and polled pretty surprising results.

Obama’s Surgeon General Regina Benjamin Overweight Controversy

Dr. Regina Benjamin, President Obama’s nominee for surgeon general, is receiving quite a bit of bad publicity because of her weight. The curvy 52-year-old, who has been nominated to be the public face of the United States’ healthcare program, has been slammed by bloggers after pictures of her (and her chubby cheeks) circulated across the Internet.
Benjamin, however, is not short of supporters. Bloggers and organizations (like the National Association to Advance Fat Acceptance) alike have rallied to her defence. A blogger on Frisky.com said:
“The job of surgeon general is to make health care and policy decisions for the country – not to look hot in a pair of skinny jeans. Perhaps her size could actually be an advantage – she’s in a better position to understand obesity and contemplate out-of-the-box ways to roll back ever-expanding American waistlines.”

The Photoshop Effect: 1 Year Later
Can you believe it’s been a year since Diet.com released their popular online video, The Photoshop Effect? What’s even more surprising is that nothing’s changed since then. But are we really all that surprised?
The controversial yet educational video, which has since received almost three million views, investigates just how far some digital retouchers go to literally shave 10 years off the faces and bodies of celebrities.
“Every [celebrity] picture that gets put through, like a Meg Ryan or Nicole Kidman, they have people on staff or a freelancer and they pay them very well to retouch every image that is released of them,” says Tim Lynch, photographer/retoucher, in the video. “That’s the reality of it. They don’t want to release anything that isn’t retouched.”

During the interview she was asked how she handles the Hollywood pressure of having to look ‘perfect’:
“I can’t tell you how many times I’ve thanked God and my parents for raising me in a place that was so humbling and so outside any of that stuff. I mean I live criticism every day. Or like having cellulite on the back of your legs. ‘I’m sorry, I’m a woman. I don’t know what you want me to tell you’ [we laugh]. ‘I’m sorry. It’s not going to go away. I can’t do anything about it. I apologize if I offended you’.”
