International chef and TV personality Jamie Oliver is in Huntington, West Virginia, cooking up a storm for his new reality TV series Jamie Oliver’s Food Revolution. Produced by Ryan Seacrest Productions and Fresh One Productions, the show which is all about getting Americans to change the way they eat not only at home but also at school and work, is set to premier on Friday 26 March.

“There’s an incredible community in Huntington, and I want this experience to be a celebration of what we can achieve when people come together,” Jamie says in an ABC press release. “I want to prove that turning around the epidemic of obesity and bad health doesn’t have to be boring or dull in the slightest. Wonderful stories will unfold in Huntington, and hopefully this will inspire the rest of the States.”

Jamie’s new show will be loosely based on his previous British hits Jamie’s Ministry of Food and Jamie’s School Dinner, and will focus on getting American’s of all ages to eat more balanced meals and cook with fresh ingredients.

Jaime Oliver is looking to turn around the town of Huntington West Virginia which is billed as the unhealthiest city in America.  The show has few interesting clips… such as the kid who wrongly identifies tomatoes as potatoes, a school serving pizza for breakfast, a shock jock who doubts Jamie can change his town…  Looks like it will make for interesting TV and here’s hoping that Jaime and the good folks of Huntington undergo a Food Revolution!

International chef Jamie Oliver, and American Idol host Ryan Seacrest are teaming up to do a reality show that will make over the eating habits of America’s fattest cities.  As of yet there is no title for the series and ABC has ordered only six episodes.  In the series, Jamie Oliver will travel to the unhealthiest cities in the USA and work with members of the community to educate them on using local resources to improve their diets.

In the past, Jamie Oliver has done a lot to spread the word about healthy eating, and not just on his cooking show.  In 2005 he did a four part documentary  called Jamie’s School Dinners where he worked with school and government officials in the UK to improve the quality of public school lunches.  Then, in 2008 he produced the series Jamie’s Ministry of Food, where he went to South Yorkshire and taught locals how to cook healthy meals.

This new show will be produced by Ryan Seacrest as he has a personal interest in the subject matter since he has described himself as a chubby child when younger.  In one of Seacrest’s KISS-FM morning shows he said,

“I’m a firm believer that the fuel we put into our body results in a healthy lifestyle. Jamie’s going to come over here, roll up his sleeves and use the resources of each town to help condition living habits to make it a better and healthier place.”
