The Australian Idol judge Ian Dickson was one of the first male celebrities to sign up with Jenny Craig, Jen4Men. Over the weekend he revealed the results of his weight loss having shed approximately 35 pounds in less than six months. He told the Daily Telegraph that he wishes he would have done it sooner. The 46-year-old said,

“I’ve gone through my 30s and most of my 40s with a ridiculous beer gut, man boobs and double chin….You look at yourself (in the mirror) and you realize the only reason I’ve got this big floppy gut and floppy man boobs is that I was just too lazy to do anything about it.”

He’s been working with a trainer twice a week and plays golf three times a week. He said he’s working on his core but not sure if he’s aiming for a six-pack or just some basic sculpting. As for his diet he has given up the potato chips, french fries and the mayonnaise and butter on his sandwiches and instead likes to eat salads and veggies. He does still allow himself a dessert from time to time. He explained,

“I have given up the drink and I’ve given up going out and partying, and now I’ve given up unhealthy food, and sometimes that results in me making the odd extra trip to the desert trolley.”

Weight Watchers International has had enough of the Jenny Craig weight loss ads that they see as misleading and deceptive. Weight Watchers decided to file suit after Jenny Craig released ads referring to a study that compared a typical Weight Watchers weight-loss program to a Jenny Craig pre-packaged meal system. Being that the two companies offer two very different types of dieting it makes sense that Weight Watchers isn’t happy about this, especially since the study supposedly doesn’t exist. In the ad Valerie Bertinelli is dressed in a lab coat and says,

“A major clinical trial [has shown that] Jenny Craig clients lost, on average, over twice as much weight as those on the largest weight-loss program [Weight Watchers]“

Another thing to consider is the fact that Jenny Craig is a unit of the Swiss company, Nestle, an enormous international conglomerate that makes anything and everything; from chocolate coco to diet salad dressing, their calories are countless. This means big dollars and big lawyers to handle the case. At the time Jenny Craig has made no comment but it will be interesting to see who wins this case in the diet world.

Seinfeld star Jason Alexander obviously has a big New Year’s resolution as he has signed on as the new Jenny Craig spokesperson. He’s different than other celebs like Valerie Bertinelli and Physiclla Raschad who have endorsed the weight loss program because those women where thin earlier in life. Whereas with Jason his obesity is what makes his celebrity personality. He’s the bald, fat guy. But this week he told People Magazine he’s ready for a change. He said,

“It’s like someone’s clubbing me over the head it’s so obvious I should be doing this. It was a deadly combination of I’m fat and they work.”

Considering this is the former spokesperson for that fattening fast food, KFC, this is definitely a leap for him. He explained that during the nine seasons of Seinfeld he saw his hairline recede and his waistline increase and he didn’t like what he saw when watching the old reruns. He hopes to lose 30 to 40 pounds and be an inspiration to other men who need to drop weight. He said,

“I’m trying not only to do it for myself but I’m encouraging other guys to come on board and say we can do this. This will work for us, and we can do this and deal with the problem. If somebody goes, ‘Well, if George can do it, I can do it!’ – that’s great. Whatever it takes to get you heading in the right direction. If I’m it, great!”

The Rita Rocks star Nicole Sullivan just gave birth a few months ago, in addition she recently signed on with Jenny Craig as one of their new spokespersons. Nicole is happy that she has already lost her baby weight but now that the holiday season is here she is determined more than ever to continue losing weight and not sink under the pressure when faced with the holiday munchies. She recently told Ok! Magazine,

“I am the Jenny Craig spokesperson now so it’s going great and it’s been a slow and steady pace with a couple of pounds a week and it’s been awesome.”

Sullivan also explained that during the holiday season she’ll be working with her personal Jenny Craig counselor that has a Christmas plan. The plan is actually a whole book that is devised to help you maintain your weight during the holiday. Sullivan won’t be losing any weight during Christmas week but she definitely won’t be gaining any either.

It has only been five days since the Eastwick star, Sara Rue started the Jenny Craig program and it’s amazing to think that she has already lost seven pounds. Sara told People Magazine,

“For me, it was key that I started on Saturday (after Thanksgiving) because I didn’t have any distractions, I didn’t have to be anywhere. I could just focus on planning my meals and getting a good start on the weekend.”

Sara also mentioned that following the Jenny Craig plan has been easy thus far and she doesn’t feel deprived because there is so much food she’s allowed to eat. Her biggest challenge has been opening up to the public about her weight and making it a public issue. And lastly, Sara mentioned that she’s walking daily with her dogs and takes hikes with her fiance, Kevin Price.

The Eastwick star, Sara Rue,is joining Valerie Bertinelli and Nicole Sullivan as a Jenny Craig spokesperson. Rue is excited about getting started on the program as she has problems controlling what she eats because of her emotional health. She said,

“My weight has fluctuated my whole life, and because I’ve been on television since I was 11 years old, everyone has seen it.”

Her initial weight goal is to lose 30 pounds and then once she gets there she’ll see if she wants to lose more. But the first thing she wants to do upon reaching her goal is to try rock climbing and wind surfing. She explains that she wants to do,

“The things that I’m just too intimidated the size I am now to do.”

When asked if she wants to bare a bikini like Valerie Bertinelli did she said that if she looks just half as good as her she would be willing to do it. When People Magazine asked Valerie what they think about Sara joining the Jenny Craig crew, she responded that she thinks Sara will be a good addition because she is an honest and real woman and is just like every woman who’s ever started a diet.

It’s amazing how many stars are using Jenny Craig to whip their bodies into shape.  Valerie Bertinelli, Phylicia Rashad and Queen Latifah are just a few, but now we can add Nicole Sullivan to the list.  Sullivan, of Lifetime’s Rita Rocks wants to lose 35 pounds of post-baby weight.  She told People Magazine,

“Baby weight’s different than other stuff. You spend a year of your life eating what you want and enjoying letting the baby have what it feels like having — and I’[ve] lost track of what I’m supposed to be doing that’s right.”

Sullivan is also hoping that having access to a personal weight-loss counselor through Jenny Craig will help curb her cravings because she’ll have someone on hand who can answer questions and also correct her when she’s making excuses about weight loss.

The actress plans to reach 126 pounds, which is one pound below her wedding-weight.  Although she does admit that one reason she wants to lose weight is to look good and look cute in her jeans but she also wants to be physically active and enjoy life. She said,

“I want to be able to go snowboarding and have a fun day on the mountain without being out of breath all the time. I don’t want to feel like I’m too old.”

Another Australian celebrity is ready to sign up with Jenny Craig.  Perhaps after seeing the success of Kath & Kim star Magda Szubanski lose so much weight, the Australian Idol judge Ian Dickson (pictured in the center) decided to jump on the weight loss bandwagon too.  Dickson, referred to as ‘Dicko’ is known for telling Idol contestants to lose weight and get in shape but this time he’s taking his own advice and wants to lose approximately 35 pounds. He said,

“I knew I was carrying a little more than I should have but to find that I was 104 kilos [230 pounds] was – literally – staggering.”

The married father-of-two decided he didn’t want to give in to middle-age and realizes that being overweight can bring upon all types of life threatening diseases so he decided to get professional help through Jenny Craig. He said,

“I absolutely refuse to give in to middle age – I’ve got a hell of a lot of living to do yet.”

The Kath & Kim star Magda Szubanski is one of the Jenny Craig weight loss heroes.  But now that she has dropped the 80 pounds the bigger challenge is keeping the weight off.  She told New Idea magazine that she’s afraid her sweet tooth will take over and she’ll gain the weight.

“I’m scared about putting weight on – and so I should be.”

The 48-year-old actress is committed to her weight loss journey and she said that no matter how long it takes she is ready for this lifestyle change and she wants to keep the weight off.  Now that she has gone from a size 26 to a size 14 she is more motivated than ever.

She said,

“It’s hard. You’ve just got to keep at it. The first part’s quite easy but it gets harder as you try to lose more,” she says. “But the satisfaction when I reached my goal weight was incredible.”

According to nutritionist Kate Di Prima the clients that visit her, up to 50% of them, have lost weight successfully and then gained it back because of failed diets.  Understandably, Magda is worried.  Hopefully she’ll stick to it because she did admit that even though she has reached her weight loss goal when it came to her Jenny Craig challenge she is still in the overweight category and maybe still in the obese category because now she weighs 187 pounds.
